Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

Published

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

Rossy- I completely understand. I would def. check with the professors then. I would hate to spend.money and not be able to return it if Its not.the correct one.

Ajk - yes! keep us updated! I love holidays don't get me wrong, but they always seem to.be in.the middle of something important... LOL

doodle- I bought all my stuff online! I got such a better deal. What I did was go to the store and try on the scrubs & shoes and stuff then buy them online. Scrubs Etc. is having a sale soon, so I would definitely check them out. Google it, there are tons of locations. I've already bought everything I could except.books. My fiance found me an awesome medical kit that comes with 3 types of medical scissors and a pen light with an organization pocket for 10$.

just go to the TR bookstore ASAP to order your name tags, that takes a couple of weeks.

Haven't heard anything yet either :(

OMG, have you guys checked the TCC page on facebook? Registration chaos!!! Lol, I'm so happy to be in the nursing program :)

Don't get too comfy without the chaos. After your semester, they have us register with all the gazillioooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnn people again, and it is tough getting those classes. Especially since clinical spaces only have 10 spots per section.

Nursing school is tough people. This just adds to the stress. We had registration for classes and a 25 plus chapter test today. Don't mean to scare you guys. Put in the extra effort and you guys will do great. But when I say effort, be ready to put in ten times more than you did for your pre-rqs.

What name tags? I thought we just had to have ID

doodle- You have to have name tags made. They will either be pin or magnetic and have "Your Name, SN" on them. You are only required to have one, but two might be a good idea in case you lose one or just can't find it when you're in a hurry in the morning. You can order them at the bookstore. The magnetic ones are 7.99 each, and the pins are a little cheaper. I just got mine ordered today when I bought my patches! :)

Hang in there manow! Don't give up hope yet. They can take alts almost up to the point classes start. I hope you get your acceptance soon.

Manow- dont give up! there is still hope! From what I have seen, the first 10 have been chosen, so you guys should hear something soon. I know UTA still haven't sent out their acceptance letters, and I bet as soon as they do, you guys will get a call. :)

Loly- Thanks for the reality check.. lol, looks like I need to stock up on index cards. Im probably going to need glasses after next semester.

Doodle- don't get too overwhelmed, after orientation things will be more clear as they explain it. You can wait to buy scrubs then if you would like, but I am one of those people who has to buy something now! now! now! I hate waiting on something that i can get done sooner. Go back and read through the information packet slower and you're gonna catch a lot of things you missed from the excitement of getting accepted.

Im finishing my immunizations this friday! YAY! but my poor, poor arms... haha

Hey all,

I've been hanging in the shadows the last few days as I am SLAMMED with schoolwork right now :-( but I got a call today that my nametags are in so that helped some! LOL I'm going to order my steth in the next couple of days which is also exciting. Can someone please remind me when Scrubs Etc is having their sale? I can't remember if it was mentioned and I'm a little too bleary eyed right now to sort through all the pages . . . :uhoh3:

Only 2.5 more weeks until orientation!!

first two weeks of december if i remember reading correctly.. for your steth i would wait and see if you can get a good deal at scrubs etc., last time they were 25% off, maybe more this next time around!

I got the called about my nametags today as well. I thought about buying my stethoscope at scrubs etc but medisave let's you get the engraving for free. Other websites charge 14$ for that. I'm ordering my books tonight in amazon :)

yeah I bought my stethoscope from medisave for $71, engraved and free shipping. You bought the same one I did, you wont regret it.

I'm ordering my books from Amazon too! I love Amazon... lol

Yup, getting mine from Medisave as well! Plus they had more color options there than what I saw at Scrubs Etc.

Do we know for sure that the book list is correct? I want to go ahead and order but I'm terrified for shelling out hundreds of dollars and not buying the right thing.
