Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

Published

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

My financial aid was appealed!! Thank God!!!!! :yeah::smiley_aa

-edit---

i finally told my mom i was going to nursing school... and she goes, "you sure you want to do that??" and tried to give me the run around about all this crap about working odd hours and taking care of bed ridden people.... made me feel really sh!++y...thanks alot mom...:confused: and she wonders why i dont tell her stuff like this.

i was curious about the 2 student fee pdfs included in our acceptance emails....i emailed katie to see if we needed to turn those back in to the department, she said.... "as far as i know, yes, you will need to have these on hand to prove you paid for them. i’m not sure that you would need to send the receipts back to us."

so, i'm still confused as to what needs to be done with those. i imagine all will be revealed at orientation. she also confirmed for me that they had received my background check....so i got that going for me, which is nice.

from what i understand, we are suppose to fill it out and take it to the business office and pay for the selected services. keep all of the paperwork/receipts to prove we paid for the stuff. i never heard anything about having to return the student fee sheets .

That's AWESOME about your financial aid!!! :w00t:

Sucks about your mom though - but you have a great head on your shoulders!! Don't let the negativity of others get to you, because in the end you'll be the one who surpasses everyone's expectations. :nurse:

what you do is fill out both of those forms and take them to business services to pay for the items. that way they know what to apply the funds to. once you've paid you'll get a receipt but it doesn't list out the items - so what i did was have the lady write out and sign what i paid for, then staple the two pieces of paper together. you'll need to make a copy of both pages, so that you've got one complete copy for the skills kit and one for the cpr class (if you take it at tcc) and just for safekeeping make a copy for yourself to show you've paid.

katie was super helpful and said that they will go over a lot of things at orientation so not to panic. but mainly go ahead and pay for the skills kit so you can pick it up that day. you just have to have paid for cpr and drug testing by the date of service. oh, and for the id badges, they are similar to the staff badges that tcc wears, where they are vertical as opposed to horizontal and they hang on one of the little yo-yo clasp things (i know that is not correct terminology but my mind is blank! lol)

do you have to call to confirm if they received your background check or will they send us a confirmation email again?

sorry one more thing! when did y'all order your badges? i ordered mine on 11/2 and when i checked today she said they were ordered on the 7th (or maybe it was the 2nd?) so they should be in next week. i hate waiting on things. lol

Can you tell me when you first turned in all your paper work? And also at which campus? I'm hoping my will be done soon! I know, I'm being impatient, it's only been a little over a week!:D

cross- thanks. :) you're right, I shouldn't let it get to me, we're on the front steps of a great journey. I think ordered mine on Halloween or the day after. They probably waited to get a few more orders in before they placed it. It should.be here by next week I estimate.

I wonder if I'm going to have to file an appeal EVERY time I apply for financial aid. If so, that would SUCK!! :(

That's cool about the badges though! I have a couple of those drawstring yo yo things sitting around the house I can use, haha. When I paid for the skills kit, she person helping me printed out a "screen print" along with a receipt which showed what I was paying for.

MCJ- I turned in my paperwork on 10/28 at the NW campus. So it took about a full week and a half. I'm sure You will hear something back by Friday if not the middle of next week.

Thanks Cross....I just hope the SE campus moves as quickly as the NW!

I know that with all the money we have to spend no one is really looking forward to buying extra things, but I bought the livescribe smart pen and I really think it will be really useful. It is amazing the things you can do with it!

check it out!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2q8_fr0lti pretty cool uh?!

Cross, I'm not sure if they are supposed to email us with a confirmation on the background check or not. I was growing impatient is all! The yo-yo badge things are badge-pulls....TNSA will be selling those at orientation.
