Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

So random but Student my husband is moving stores over to the Highlands next week! LOL So I'll be down there fairly frequently. :-)

I want to go to Scrubs, Etc. this weekend if I can find time and look around. I can't buy any just yet but want to get a feel for brand/sizing and such. Can you purchase steth's at a store like that too? And shoes??

The skills pack sounds exciting!!! :nurse:

they have everything! they have a big shoe selection [basically like a little store] and a wall full of steths, but they keep the littman's behind the counter. Last time I went, they were 15% off. They have this little area for kids to watch movies while you shop too. I do really want to go back also to finish looking around. What kind of store does your husband own? I remember reading it on an older post, but forgot to ask lol.

Seems like everyone loves close to each other, except me lol.

I'm just starting to buy a little at a time, i dont want to have sticker shock if i decide to buy everything all at one time. You know, scrubs one week, shoes the next, and so on..and i definitely bargain shop for sales!

Oh awesome! I'll have my 15yo niece with me this weekend so it'll be a perfect time to go. Make notes and go back and spend a ton of money when my husband gets paid! LOL

He runs a BBQ store, they sell high-end outdoor kitchens / grills / gas logs and such. Apparently business is booming in Arlington so awayyyyyyyy he goes. :twocents:  LOL

lol, trust me, you will need lots of time to look around..so many styles. I had my kiddos and lover with me, so i didnt want to make them suffer, waiting, while i pranced around like a little pony in a field of flowers.

For a second I thought it said he ran a BBQ store, like a restaurant, i was about to proclaim you my best friend for life!! :yeah:L O L. just kidding

but i love food...

Im trying not to spend too much money, I try on at the store, but shop online for better deals, I calculated it up ill be spending approximately $900[with tuition], NOT including the price of textbooks..

I just keep telling myself "it'll all be worth it..it's expensive now because we are just beginning, but it expenses will go down..hopefully."

But I did buy some Dickies scrub tops, VERY durable, and the material is thick, V-neck, 3 pocket, only $10, compared to $16.95 at Scrubs Etc.

Well that's encouraging - that's why I want to try on different brands and then look online.

I'm so upset that the FA won't hit until January because I really am not going to spend Christmas money on scrubs and stuff that can wait. I don't work because of school and with only one income and a ton of bills that's the REASON we get financial aid in the first place. It's extremely frustrating and I wish they could just apply the money from the loan and not do the payout until January, but wishful thinking . . .

EVERYONE thinks its a restaurant at first so you're not alone! LOL He's from Kansas City too so he is in BBQ heaven - he loves it. Although TX and KS BBQ is very different so there is always a battle in this house. :-))

My husband is from KC too! I am used to the BBQ battle.

@crossreferenced, I see how waiting for FA could be frustrating, but you should feel very lucky! I don't work and still have to pay out of pocket :(

Does anyone live in south fort worth? Wondering if any of you will have clinicals with me.

I live in Cleburne, and hoping to have clinicals at Huguley.

@cross- Hey man, BBQ is BBQ, if my stomach is happy, then so am I!

im still waiting to hear back about my appeal, i really hope it goes through, ive been saving up since this years tax season because i knew i would have to pay out of pocket for one or two semesters.. and you're right, living on one income is very difficult, i stopped working after the twins were born and started going back to school, and just stopped recently [i was barely pulling in 15hrs a week PT], so i literally have a "to do/to buy" spread sheet that lists out what i need to do and buy on what days of the month. Especially with the holidays coming up, 5 uncles, 4 aunts, 2 brothers, LOTS of cousins..and we are going to be moving in the next 2-3 weeks.. its going to be such a tight squeeze..im just glad to be blessed with good baking and knitting skills..lots of "home made" gifts this year. :D

Hey Kirbe...YES, Scrubs Etc...is the place to go...they sell everything!!! you will be able to find what you need there for sure..they have so many various scrubs from different company's so you can see what works best!

Tx, let me know when you find out about your appeal. I had to do one as well but I turned it in on Tuesday barley. I had a friend do an appeal that got into the program last semester and hers went through fine, so I'm hoping ours will as well.

I bought the greys anatomy scrubs since they had a lot of positive things said about them in the Fall thread. They are really comfortable. I still need to go order my name tags.

I may end up in a clinical with all you Arlington folks.... I live on the edge of Arlington/Mansfield/Grand Prairie...... By Joe pool lake

How long did it take for your friend to hear back from them? I turned mine in last friday, and called yesterday and the person i spoke with said "hmm..well it can take anywhere from two weeks, maybe even longer..depends on the traffic..so i would give it until at least the middle of november, if not the end of the month.."!! :hdvwl: so im constantly checking my emails like very hour lol, but i will def. let you know when i hear something back, im hoping by next friday.
