Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

Published

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

You have to expand it. I think there is a + or something.

I'm so excited for all of you applying for spring semester! I just finished my 2nd week of nursing school with TCC's program and it's been great! Although I'm exhausted already, it's definitely an amazing experience.

The skills lab with all the machines and maniquens is definitely amazing to work with.. everything is very new and very high technology wise. For instance, today I got to listen to a dummies pulse, BP, heart, and lung sounds. The professor can set it on different speeds and issues so it's very neat to work with those different situations before going to any hospital. Plus they actually talk/cough/vomit to you! It's pretty amazing and you guys will be impressed!

Best of luck to everyone. Let us know if you need any help (us girls on the fall 2011 thread are good resources!)

lmd1679- a vomiting maniquen..?that sounds so cool!!!

edit edit-

nevermind.. lol

Ok guys, now that I have taken my test I am finding even more stuff to stress about. I did my first hep b shot on 7.14.11. The form says the last dose has to be six months after the first shot, but I have read that it should be done 4-6 months from first shot. At six months it will put me at 1.14.11. Cutting it a little too close. Surly they aren't going to hold us at exactly six months, are they?

what I have read is that if you don't get your shots done in time.before classes begin, they make you sign a waiver. but I think since your estimated time is before the beginning of classes and clinicals I don't think they will really hold you accountable to it.. you will just have to keep.them updated. I only have to get one more varicella but everytime I get to the clinic their is a 1-3 hour wait.. oyyy..... for tcc , the hep b shots have to be spreaded out for the 6 month time frame, no sooner. I actually get my last hep b in November.

@Student - that day I turned in my packet I asked the same question, because I was told there was a 6 month wait between the varicella vax (by my nurse). Anywho, I had my first dose on 8/22 so that would make my next one 2/22 - well past the start of the program. When I asked the advisor he said that all vax just had to be completed prior to starting the program and that it should only be 28 days between doses of varicella as in my case. It wasn't completely necessary in my case because I had equivocal immunity but my doctor wanted to be safe rather than sorry.

Okay, sorry, didn't mean to write a book there! LOL At any rate, just ask the advisor. He can probably tell you exactly when spring semester will start too.

Yes, I will. It usually starts around 1/19 or so. Thanks ladies! I go down there Monday to turn my stuff in.

1/17? That's my birthday! What a nice present that would be. Even if it's not at tcc I will still be going to weatherford :}
