Hello,

Picking patients is usually done the day before. It doesn't matter what time you go, however, I would suggest not going too early in the AM because your patient might be discharged. (I think there might be one hospital out of the bunch that does not allow this to happen the night before, but I don't know which one) Get to know the charge nurses on the floor you all will be going to and always ask what patients they recommend and find out which ones are possibly getting discharged the next day. In my clinical group, almost everyone had a patient at one point that got discharged. My clinical instructor told us to work the care plan up until the point you could and turn in what we had. Enjoy your holiday and the last month and half before school! Trust me, you will miss this break. Hope you all had fun (or not) at orientation yesterday. I was beyond excited when I went to mine but it was a long day. However, your first semester will FLY!

Hi all. I had a good time yesterday. I wasnt really up to walking to the other campus in my silly sandals, but that's another story. I have clinical on MW 7a-1p at Plaza Medical Center, theory on T/TH 2:15-4:05p and skills lab on T 9-12pm. I am somewhat familiar with Plaza so I was happy about getting it for a clinical site.

ps. I am the culprit that kept coughing during the day. I am battling some kind of upper respiratory infection with antibiotics and cough drops just werent cutting it yesterday...sorry guys.

I went ahead and made my preferred list based on the schedules they handed out, and added my ASL class as well. When I tried to register for just ASL, it gave me an error that I had an unpaid balance of $35 . . . could this be the drug test? I had financial aid so I know there was no balance even just a few weeks ago when I paid for the skills kit and CPR. Guess I'll be visiting business services tomorrow to see what's up, and go ahead and pay for my drug test if that's what it is.

I also took the advice of the TSNA ladies and bought a very detailed planner, for my family. That way, down to the hour, my husband can know what is happening when so there are no mishaps with scheduling. I'm so anxious to get started. :-)

I'm very excited to start also! still so Much to do and buy!! and I also plan to get a detailed day planner haha! this is going to be so awesome!! I'm geekin out about it!!!

The one I bought came from Wally World and was only $13, but it has so much detail (I also bought colored pens but that is more fun for me LOL). I am married to a man with severe ADD so on top of that planner there is a large desk calendar that will hang on the back door so that he will see it when he leaves every day. :-) Leaving no room for error here! hehehe

Have you looked through your skills kit yet?? I came home Friday night and dumped it out and organized everything. So many goodies!!! :yeah:

I still have most everything to buy but hopefully can start after the middle of the month. Mainly I want to start buying books . . .

My husband and I are on our way to the company x-mas party and he took me by Plaza to scope the place out. It's smaller than I thought it would be. The cafe is nice. Can't wait to start!!

I haven't looked through my skills kit yet. I got home and just layer around. I was exhausted!! but I can't wait to look through it! I'm going to get another bag to organize everything.

I feel you on the ADD husband..mine is the same way. Literally, I leave notes all over the place for.him so he doesn't forget something important. its ridiculous. And I love color pens! I am a color cooridating freak!

I don't have too much left to buy, but I REALLY want my text books. Its just gonna get me more excited then what I already am! And ibsaw the funniest t-shirt today, it said "feel safe tonight, sleep with a nurse" LOL

I'm a note-addict as well, and text messages galore, whatever works. :-) I'm ready to start working on the planner but I have SO.MUCH.HOMEWORK due this week that there won't be time. So glad this is the last week of school and I only have two finals. This mama needs a break. :eek: :eek:
