Thought I'd start a thread for those of us applying for spring. I'll be applying with a 4.0 and 94 HESI. Anyone else applying?

Did she give you a feel of your chances with those scores?

Hi everyone this is my first time chiming in......general question. Did the majority of you all applying take your classes at TCC? And does anyone know # of applicants vs. accepted? Thanks.

I graduated from TCCD nursing program. I'm glad I was able to finish all of my prenursing requirements before starting my ADN. Right now I'm taking classes at UTA for the RN to BSN program. Good luck guys.

I applied. EXACT same GPA and score as you! LOL. 100 on math and 88 on reading/grammar. I thought the reading was a little tricky. I have a BA in English so I thought I would ace the reading/grammar section...guess not..

Hi Vaye, I'm wondering if you can tell me about the UTA RN-BSN program. Why did you choose that one over others (like Texas Tech)?

I've been reading an old thread from Fall 2014 applicants. Someone mentioned a reading list that is handed out at orientation and must be completed by the first day...wondering if someone can post that? Also, how does a student get selected for summer classes? A TCC nursing student graduated a semester early because she was selected for summer classes.

Hey guys. I am a Fall 2014 student- just started 2 weeks ago. Go ahead and start learning/practicing dosage calculations now, it will ease your stress once you start. Some people got in with a 3.5 and 87 HESI, so any scores at that or higher will probably be accepted.

Our first exam (which is on the 4th week) convered chapter 2, 40, 4, 37, 41, 42, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 22, 30 (that is the order) in our "Fundamentals of Nursing" by Craven and pages 609-614 in the "Pharmacology and the Nursing Process" by Lilley. But I don't know if it changes each semester or not.

How do we practice calculations? Are they in those chapters u listed?

At orientation, they will spend a couple of hours explaining "dimensional analysis" to you, which is the method you will need to use to calculate dosages on your exams. They will provide you with a CD that explains this process, but here are some links: https://www.dosagehelp.com/units.html and Medication Math for the Nursing Student the math is quite simple, but you must know how to set up the problem, show all your work, and use the right units when answering (mL, gtts/min, mg/hr, etc.).
