Tarrant County College Spring 2014

U.S.A. Texas

I haven't found a thread for Spring 2014 TCC nursing applicants, so I thought I would start one! I still have 2 more classes to complete before I can officially apply. I have an A in A&P I, and hope to have an A in A&PII this semester. I scored 92.5 on my HESI, but I might re-take it.

Who else is applying and what does everyone else have?? :)

I sent a request to the FB group page MichelleMoss.

Did you even start your HepA series yet? They are six months apart unless you get a titer done.

sorry yea I had both done. I didn't realize there were two cause I had mine done when I was a child. Both of them.

Question about hep B...

The school says six months apart. So for example 1st shot on August 1, second on Sept 1 ... So the third can't be done until February 1?

I'm curious because the CDC and the public health clinic said my third shot is 4 months from the first which means third would be December 4th. Here is the link for the CDC info.

Where is everyone else at with these? I have to get my last hep A in early February, but they said that's not a problem. Other than that I just need my flu shot which I plan to get tomorrow.

If I get turned away after all this I'm going to freak out!

I'm in! Congrats everyone!

Obxluvr, if you can get your last HepB in December, I would do that. The health department knows all about time frames I would assume. I started my HepB in May, so my last one is due November 11th. Are you also on the 'provisional' acceptance list?

You have to have your HEP B completed (all 3 shots) before you can register for class. It does have to be 6 months in between first and last shot. Maybe look into getting a titer? I know they nursing program did say HEP A is the only exception to the immunizations because of the short notice. You might want to call to get guidance because I don't think you can start the program without the full HEP B series. :(

What number do I call?

I am on the provisional... Ugh what number do I call?

I get my 3rd Hep B on Dec 1st. I get my last Hep A on Feb 1st. Should I get blood work for Hep B titers to ensure good class times?

Oh ok freak out over! So I talked to Dana at the main healthcare services number and she's awesomely nice. Anyway, she said that 6 months was the old recommendation but if the vaccine giver will give it to you early that's fine to go ahead and do it. Whew! Crisis averted onto the next! I'm going to run over to Walgreens and get a flu shot real quick, my physical is on December 2nd. That's the soonest they could get me in. Dana said that the packets with all the forms in it won't be sent our another week or so and the physical form is in that. Hope this helps someone!
