Tarrant County College fall 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Welcome! I thought it was time to start a new thread for TCC fall 2013 applicants and future hopefuls. I've followed the past 2 threads for TCC and there are at least a handful of us finishing up pre-requisites this summer and fall.

Feel free to join the conversation and pass the word to others.

I'm sure you'll get in this time around! I'm taking my last science right now and have been maintaining an A so it looks like I'll be applying with a 4.0 science GPA. I'm a little nervous about the HESI but I'm going to get a study guide soon. Any suggestions?

This is the Hesi study guide that a friend recommended. She took the Hesi during the last admission period at TCC. Admission Assessment Exam Review: HESI: Amazon.com: Books

Lauren.... May I ask what your science GPA was? I am thinking about retaking my micro since I got a b! Ugh... So much to think about!

Hey Everyone,

I'm taking my hesi coming up anyone have any tips for the science portions?

The science sections are not required if you plan on applying for the TCC Nursing Program. Only Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary & General Knowledge, Grammar, Learning style, and Personality style.

Thank you! :) That's what I thought but wasn't sure does anyone know if the same is true for UTA?

I am about to start my Science classes. I work full time and have a teenager at home. I think taking one science class at a time is the right decision...suggestions?

Also....the TCC website says they only use your science grades and the HESI to get your GPA that is used for admission...and that you have to get at least a C in allother pre req courses. I have also heard from people that they use your overall GPA + HESI for admission....anyone know which is correct? I have a few B's in pre req classes...not sure if I need to retake them.

I know people who have doubled up on their sciences and managed As. I don't know that I could do it though, especially with A&P. it would require A LOT of studying.

As far as GPA... My understanding is it's only science GPA like the nursing information sheet states.

@kenzey

I would not suggest doubling up any sciences, but if you had to I would double Micro with either Chem, or A&P 2 (whichever you think you would do better in). I would not double any with A&P 1, there is way too much information to learn. As far as I've heard, it's only the science GPA+HESI that determines the acceptance. Good Luck!

The HESI you take at TCC can be used for UTA; they also do not require the science section.

Working full time, I would not suggest doubling up on sciences unless you are strong in that area. I tripled up on sciences this semester and am maintaining an A in all three; however, I do not work and two are retakes to get them within 5 years. I have one kid involved in extra curricular activities and I have started to get a little stressed at times. One week I had 5 tests and didn't do as well as I had hoped on all of them. In two weeks, I will have 4 tests, but I just keep telling myself it is almost over.

Happy finals week everybody! I am officially done with all of my prereqs and can happily say I'll be applying with a 4.0 science GPA. Now all that's left is the HESI, application and the wait.

Good luck to everyone this week!
