Tarrant County College fall 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Welcome! I thought it was time to start a new thread for TCC fall 2013 applicants and future hopefuls. I've followed the past 2 threads for TCC and there are at least a handful of us finishing up pre-requisites this summer and fall.

Feel free to join the conversation and pass the word to others.

I just finished my last final today and will be applying with a 4.0 science GPA and a 92.5% HESI score.

Congrats to you both! @Ktm89 & futureexpectations.

I will also be applying with a 4.0 and a 94 on my Hesi. Can't wait to start this journey :)

I still need to take my HESI. Did you both take it at TCC? I'm hoping to take it at TCC and somewhere else just so I have the choice between the better of the two scores

I took it at TCC last semester. I also posted some study tips on a previous page.

Question...I noticed that on the information for TCC's partnership with Tarleton that Statistics is a requirement, and in parenthesis it has (College Algebra prereq) beside it. TCC only requires Intermediate Algebra to register for Statistics. Should we also take College Algebra?

I'm curious because it is not listed seperatly as a prereq, it's only in parenthesis.

Also, does anyone know if TCC's HECO will cover the nutrition requirement?

I'm not sure whether or not you'll need algebra as well as statistics. They aren't very clear on that. As far as nutrition goes, I would think it would transfer. At least I'm hoping it will since that's the same class I have!

Specializes in Pre-op, OR, & PACU.

I noticed that notation too. I talked to a TCC advisor at NW campus about math requirement this past semester. Stats ranks lower in math at TCC than College Algebra does. Successful completion of Stats will not get you into College Algebra, only your Accuplacer score or completion of Math 0350 can. I would think they would put College Algebra on the list if it is also required. (UTA requires both and they are listed separately)

When I was trying to build my spring class list, I came across a webite that showed equivalent classes. http://www.tccns.org/default.aspx You might find your answer there about the Nutrition class.

Thank you for the link! I was unable to find a match to Tarleton's Nutrition course. The closest course I did find for TCC was FDNS-1345. I did not know TCC offered a Nutrition course other than HECO1322, which seems to be a prereq for the FDNS course. I went ahead and emailed someone in the nursing department to see if they can offer any insight.

the nutrition equivalent is HECO 1322 at TCC

So I'm going through the application packet and part of it says...

8. Submit the Immunization Form with information on all completed immunizations. Provide proof

of the required immunizations with your application. Immunizations are not required to be completed at

time of application, but must be completed by the first official day of the Nursing Program. Please note:

the Hepatitis B vaccination should be started as soon as possible as it requires three doses and six

months between the first and third dose.

However, I can't seem to find the immunization form. Are we just supposed to submit copies of our immunization records or will they upload a form for us to have completed? Same thing with the physical...

An immunization form will be uploaded around the application period or you can send in copies of records. As for the physical, once accepted the Nursing Dept. will email a health form for a health care provider to fill.

They should upload the entire application in January. It's only available during the application periods.

Sorry @ktm, I didn't realize that the application was already available! :woot:

Thank you @txranger_chris.

You were accepted last semester, correct? Congrats, I can't wait to be at that point!
