So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!
I got accepted into TCC and Weatherford last semester and I just went on through and did all my stuff for Weatherford until I heard from TCC. There was a two month difference in their applications deadlines so I wasted some money doing drug tests and background checks for TCC. Also, my clinical instructor said today that they have to let the LVN-RN student know who got in by the end of this month and so hopefully you guys will also know by then. Good luck!
Also, I have learned that nursing school is just a waiting game in general. First you will be waiting for acceptance, they you'll be excited about orientation and if you get to see the campus, then for the first day of class that feels like it will never come, then three weeks before you are at the hospital, then to give your first shot...etc etc etc, and then (me right now) for the semester to be over. Consider this time training, lol.Currently I am waiting for a job interview that I got to work as a nurse extern in a hospital...crossing fingers and toes!!!
Funny you should say that, Student. The whole waiting concept dawned on me about a week ago. Don't get me wrong, I'm dying to find out but I know that it will just send me into another tangent of getting things "prepared" and into more waiting. I'm taking classes now and it's taking everything I have not to get distracted. I also have a full schedule planned for summer so I really can't afford to be daydreaming about nursing school quite yet. Haha.
I hope summer break comes very soon for you. It sounds like a constant exciting, stressful, whirlwind-of-a-time. It makes me excited (and exhausted!) just thinking about it. Good luck with the externship! Sending prayers your way!!!
M - I am planning on taking govt 2305 (US gov) and Hist 1301 (the one to 1876 - funny I took the second half of this one and never took the first!) I have Stats to take as well, but really don't want to have to deal with the on campus testing..and the prof at NE I would need to take does not have the best reviews.. we have a vacation scheduled in late July so I don't want to take a class summer 2. I have my other core classes from when I was in school 12 years ago when I was majoring in political science..but I never finished my degree. I know from hearing from current students we will have a LOT to do and buy before our semester starts, so I guess leaving sum 2 open is best anyway! I plan to register for CPR at TCC, but was waiting to hear for sure if I got in..I will probably do it in June sometime as well, unless the last one in May is still open when we find out for sure. I will suffer through the length of it to save a few bucks! It is hard to plan without knowing!
Student - how does being a nurse extern work? Sounds super exciting and I hope you get it!! Thanks for all your posts giving us info!
That sounds like a good strategy. I'm planning on taking college algebra and technical writing together in summer 1 for the very same reason. I don't want to be studying and worrying about deadlines other than those associated with nursing toward the end of summer. Too much stress! Great idea on the vacation too! You'll be thanking yourself for that come mid-semester when you're buried in books and well into clinicals.
I think you're smart to get the CPR done sooner...just one less thing to think about! I'm good on CPR. I just have to get the third dose of my Hep B. I know there's going to be a wave of to-do's once we get the much anticipated email so I'm trying to enjoy this time as much as possible. All the while checking my email too many times to count! I guess it's just the nature of the beast...
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this group, and playing the waiting game as well. I can let you know this is my second time to apply, and the first time they did not accept my algebra transfer (long story). The rejection letters came before the acceptance letters. They sent them sooner in case there was a mistake, this way if an error there would be time to fix it. So if there is a silver lining I think it would be that the longer we wait the better chance it is for good news. The counselor I spoke to said last semester the lowest scores accepted were a 3.5 GPA and an 86 on the Hesi if that helps anyone.
Welcome B&Csmom! Thanks for the info as well, that is good to know! Good luck to you! I was stressing something would be left out or off of my app so hopefully since I haven't heard anything that is good news! Now I just worry that my app was lost, lol! It is hard not to worry when I am putting all my eggs in the basket and have already planned for the fall to start. I know we are all in the same boat! I can't believe it is mid April already...maybe this friday the 13th is all of our lucky day?? :)

I keep going back and forth on whether to register for summer one! I really wanted to know for sure if I was in for fall before I registered! Not that it really makes a difference but that is how my thinking is going these days! haha :) I guess I will just wake up at 6am Sunday and try my best to get the classes I want.
That's good you're already CPR certified! Do you already work in the medical field?
Thanks for the scoop B&Csmom! Glad to know we're still in the running. I can't imagine having to do this wait twice!
k- No medical background but my last job required that we be current on CPR/AED. I totally get where you're coming from re: thinking. I can't trust myself. One day it's this and the next something completely different. Now that registration is upon us, I keep shifting my "plan". I'm ready for a vacation...my brain hurts!
Alright at least we can ease up on the email checking now that the weekend is here. Here's hoping for next week!

kate what classes are you planning on taking? I'm trying to do the same thing. Thinking about taking Phed Concepts, College Algebra and either TX govt or Tech Writing this summer. Not REALLY what I'd LIKE to do but I think I'll be happy that I did it now as opposed to later.
I saw that Weatherford acceptance letters went out. Anyone applying to both TCC and Weatherford, get in? Congrats if you did! :yelclap: I was curious as to when you need to accept by. Since TCC hasn't sent out acceptance letters and say, your preference is for TCC, do you just accept and then decline if you get into TCC? I only applied to TCC but I'm curious how people handle that. Ideally, TCC should just send out their acceptance letters this week and make us all happy!! :)
