So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!
Ladies (and gentlemen)! I haven't applied yet but I plan on finishing up my pre-reqs this summer. I am currently taking A&P1 and Chemistry together and I'm deathly afraid that I'm going to end up with a B in Chemistry. Do you think there's any possibility of getting in with 1 B in my sciences? Also! Can't you take the HESI more than once, and use the highest score? That's what someone told me.
loqical- I have one B, so my GPA is a 3.75... We'll see if it was good enough when they (FINALLY!) tell us! I've heard of plenty of people getting in with a 3.75 even lower than that, but of course it's always better to have to highest GPA you can make. About the HESI, I was told you could only take it once a year... but don't worry, it really isn't hard! Just get the study guide and study from that. Good luck!! :)
loqical, I don't think one B will hurt you at all. As for the Hesi, I believe you can only take it once in the same semester. I want to think I read somewhere that you could be disqualified for taking it twice (maybe at Brookhaven??). But then some schools require that you take it at their facility so if you're applying to more than one school who requires that, you'd have to take it more than once. So I really don't know. I would call the school directly. The Hesi is pretty straight forward and much easier than the teas from what I've been told. I studied the vocabulary section the most and it still was my lowest score but I was happy with my score overall.
So for those of you doing the email mambo, I've redirected my attention to looking for nursing stuff instead. Have any of you started looking at shoes, scrubs, etc.? I know its early but anything to make the waiting more tolerable. So what's everybody finding? Any cool stuff or good deals? The money part of nursing school is a bit daunting. I'm hoping to have a list together so when we do find out, I won't be scrambling to research/find the stuff we need to buy.
Virginia D- Mid April? this past month feels like its been an eternity already! I wonder why they sent the letters out so fast last semester. That makes me kind of nervous...Maamcdonald- I have already started looking at nursing stuff! :) I saw on the last few semesters what stuff they were buying so I've been looking at shoes, and scrubs online, but I think I'm going to go to some of the (many!) scrub stores around here to actually try them on and see which ones I like and then look for them online to see if I can find them cheaper! I'm the queen of online shopping! Lol. Has anyone else been looking at stuff we'll need?
vc--I love online shopping, gotta love no tax, free shipping and no lines! I actually went to a scrubs place near 183 and tried on a few styles. I really love the Koi cargo pant but the color is a bit darker than the normal teal. I'm not sure how picky they are about that, so I didn't get them. They were so comfortable though! I've been on the lookout for a roller bag for my books. As for shoes, I know a lot of people recommend the Dansko/clogs. I've tried those in the past with my last job and had no luck with them. They hit my arch funny and my feet got really hot in them. But I know a lot of people who swear by them, so you should check them out. Have fun scrub hunting! :)
I really love the Koi brand also! They're so cute and fit me really well! But I know what you mean about the color not being quite right. I was not too happy when I realized that! And I know what you mean about the roller bag, because of the fact that we will most likely have to walk from the TR campus parking garage... Did they not think about how much parking they would really need when they built the TRE campus? I guess I will just have to get used to it! I've seen/heard people talk about the Dansko clogs, I just don't know how I'd like them, my feet get hot too. I can always try them, maybe comfort will trump temperature! lol...
I know, I thought for sure we would find out in March, I'm praying that it'll be soon! I don't know how much longer I can take waiting! I used to consider myself a patient person, now I'm not so sure lol!
I was reading through some past threads from last Spring and I saw someone got the Koi cargo pants in that darker shade of teal. She seemed to think it would be okay. I haven't seen the school patch so I don't know what shade of teal they actually use. Anybody already in the program know if the Koi (dark teal?) cargo pants are acceptable? I was thinking about getting a pair in grey or navy just to lounge around in! They're so comfortable (and cute to boot!).

Me too!! I check my emails way too much just hoping for something! I check at random times of the day because I don't know if it will come at the beginning, middle, or end of the day. Then I check this site to see if ANYone has heard anything. I've been getting some emails from that Elsevier website (coupons, etc) and I think, does that mean something? Hahahah- CRAZY!
