So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!
I'm hoping this week. I'm feeling antsy!! I resisted the urge to check my email this weekend because, HELLO, it's the weekend. I haven't heard from UTA either. I feel like there are so many things to do based on where/if I ge in. It would be nice to hear from a least one school ths week :0). I'm really leaning towards TCC and then the bridge no matter where I get in but, it will be nice to know something or certain!! Did anyone else apply at both?
I only applied at TCC. It is really the only option for me cost wise...then my "plan" is to bridge immediately after I get my license.. I have to have a lot of things fall into place of course but praying it all does, eventually! I registered for 2 summer classes during sum 1 this morning. Got the ones I wanted that were online :) It should keep me pretty busy during sum 1, esp with all 3 of my kiddos home all day! During the day today I broke down and checked CC email, no reason why of course since it IS THE WEEKEND!!...but I saw the "new email" and nearly passed out...then realized it was from registering...lol..ugh! So silly!
When is the deadline to hear back from UTA Caitlyn? UTA confuses me with all the being partnered, etc. I guess it depends on which program you are applying to?
Hopefully we find out this week...but I have said that every week and my theories about it have all been wrong! Hang in there everyone and know I am hanging in too, trying not to flip out!
Kate, they showed a deadline of May 1st but, who knows. I applied for partnered and traditional at UTA. I have very little hope of getting in to the academic partnership. I'm not partnered. It is a lot more expensive, one big reason I am leaning towards TCC! I'd rather pay out of pocket than take out loans. I would love to graduate debt free. The way I see it, it takes me an extra year to bridge but, I'm working and making money rather than paying back student loans. I just applied at all because I was done with pre-reqs for both programs. What are you taking this summer? My last semester was stats, Psychology and tech wiring. I just knocked out those bridge classes to get them over with. Also, UTA has started a new program where you can take some bridge classes concurrently. I need to check it out a bit more but, I saw a post on their fb page about it.
I am taking the first history - to 1876, and also US Govt. After that I only have stats to take to be able to bridge after the ASN program...hopefully I will be able to squeeze that one in at some point! I know at TWU there are a few bridge classes that do not have to be completed before you start, so I bet UTA is the same way. I think it is speech, multicultural women's class, and maybe a few others? I am pretty sure Stats is NOT one of them though...! Did you find Stats an easy course? Did you take it online or on campus? I like math, but really do not have the time or ability to go to the campus to test this summer with my kids.. Maybe I will be able to take it next summer..
Seriously, week days are killing me.. I think I need therapy for the serveral times I have checked my email and obsessed about it and it is just past lunch time!
I thought statistics was hard but, I have to admit I took it online and I think it would have been much easier in the classroom. I did finish with an A but, just barely. There are alot of word problems and you need specific formulas to work them based on the different wording. I think that it was hard for me because the book did not really emphasize the words that went with the different formulas and my teacher was not really getting the job done. They had just switched to backboard from virtual class room and he was struggling to figure blackboard out. The tests were online with stats with the instructor I took so, you could do it this summer. The tests being off campus though honestly did not make them any easier IMO. There were so many formulas. If you didn't know them you were in trouble. I have heard people say they love stats though so you may love it and think it's a breeze.
i'm taking stats online now through tcc. i've taken a stats class before and really liked it but this class is a killer. the material is interesting but my instructor does not "teach" which makes the supplemental hours of searching the internet and trying to make sense of it on your own a full time job. he gives us a review before each test but doesn't offer any answers so it's really hard to know how we're doing. thankfully, another gal in the class and i meet regularly and between her awesome internet skills (she finds great tutorials) and putting our heads together we're both pulling a's. i think the class would be easier in person or with a different style of teaching. but it really depends on the instructor in my opinion.
i filled my summer up--exactly what i told myself i wouldn’t do. we’ll see. another day another “idea”. i really hope we find out soon. it’s been hard to make decisions without having the whole picture in line.
so thankful for this board...i feel so much more saner when i read all your posts. glad to know we’re all experiencing the same symptoms!
I'm also taking stats right now, also online, at TCC... and IMO this is the hardest class I've ever taken, and I loved my other math classes!! The homework takes me hours to do, mostly because I have no idea how to do it before I start the hw, so as I go I have to try to figure it out... and my instructor doesn't "teach" us anything either... he doesn't give reviews for the test and the tests AREN'T multiple choice... I'm barely making an A, but we still have one more test, and the final, and two more quizzes to take, plus homework and an assignment, so I don't know how I'll do on all the rest. So many people did bad on the last test that he emailed us saying he was going to figure out what he's going to do, but he still hasn't said what that will be... and that was a few weeks ago... lol I seriously hate this class, and I'm praying I can pull off an A. So my advice is don't take it online... save yourself the stress and just take it as a regular class. lol
Welcome Ddiabmarzouk! Good luck to you! I seriously hope we hear soon too. I really feel like I might be going crazy!
Has anyone called them lately?
Yikes! Thanks for the warning about online stats! I will steer clear of that online class for sure. I should have knocked it out this semester I suppose but really didn't think about taking classes while waiting to hear back. Oh well!
Welcome Ddiabmarzouk! Don't feel bad I think we are all feeling like we are going crazy waiting :)
I have never called cause I am a big chicken....but I encourage anyone else too..lol Although, I know we have heard every possible date already.
Now on to shoes - my friend who is in the program now got white leather Skechers premium premix sneakers for clinicals..they are super cute and don't have laces. You don't have to worry about keeping them tied if you don't want to touch your dirty hospital shoes! I have the shopping page bookmarked on my computer and they are going to be the first thing I order if I get in!! lol

I can't decide whether to register or not either. They were very clear on the May 1st deadline, but the more time that goes by, the more I have doubts and indecision. I was just going to wait and see if I get in and take the summer off, but now I feel like I need to get going on all of these other classes, just in case! I think I am going to reg for summer 1 because my son and husband take an early summer vacay anyway. I got my CPR/AED in Grapevine early because I thought I would just put a copy of my certification in with my application, but the advisor I had said they ONLY want the grades, degree audit, shot record, application... So I don't feel like I'm any further ahead, as it really was not very time consuming and it seems pretty easy to find a class.
Good luck everyone!!! Hope this thing lights up next week with people posting that they (we) are accepted!
