Hi there! This topic is for students applying for TCCD Fall 2016 ADN program. I'm excited about getting the ball rolling!
@jfever I agree!! I feel better this time with my 95 hesi score over my 90.5 last time.
I'm really hoping that I get in this time. This is my third or fourth time applying but my first with different scores. I'm ready to start the crazy journey of nursing school. I'm in the Facebook group from last time and I really want to be apart of all of it. Lol. Hopefully we only have 4 more weeks of waiting!! I waited till the end of the application period to apply so I wouldn't have to wait as long.
Did is anyone turn their application into the last door on the left of the nursing building (across from the testing center)?
From what I have gathered from past threads and nursing students this is what people have said on how they accept students. This could totally be wrong though.
A= 100
B= 80
C= 60
add your three science grades and divide by 3. Then add your hesi score and divide by 2. In the past, students with a 90 or above (using this method) got accepted and alternates were in the mid to upper 80s. Each year is different though. One girl told me that the year before she was an alternate then the next application she got accepted.
Yeah I wouldn't buy into that. I have the same scores as a friend of mine that got in Fall 2014. And another student I know applied with a 3.5 and 90 HESI and got in too. So it really depends on the applicant pool.
I felt confident about my scores when I left but now I'm starting to feel less and less. I don't want to be let down like last time but just like you (ERiding2016) this time I have different scores. Katherine told me not to worry but I'm not sure if she was being nice.
I think I may just go MIA from here until we get our emails because I'll worry myself way too much. I'm just exhausted from going through this process for the 2nd time.
It really is all about the application pool. I wish there was a system so we would know and not stress so much. :/
@jFever I feel the same way, I felt confident about my scores but that's slow diminishing. I feel like we just went through this and I really don't want to get my hopes up again.
I'm going to try and not think about it too much and hopefully we will be receiving emails before we know it. I'm taking a class for my BSN so hopefully that will keep me occupied.
@kylieneden- I applied for spring 2016 and was on the All Nurses forum for that; judging but what I saw I'm positive you are fine. Usually 4.0s get in, 3.6s/3.3s get in depending on HESI score.
Yeah, the fact that some of us just went through this is a little tiring. But there are a lot of applicants who had to apply multiple times. Worst case we all work on stuff in the summer and apply in August.
Yes!! Hopefully we get in!!!
I work at a daycare but I'm not sure if I will be able to continue working there. I hope so that away I don't have to worry about it. My oldest will start school in August and I won't have to worry about daycare for her.
FWI: The spring Facebook group said that you don't get to choose your schedule anymore and they do have clinical on weekends. But you want switch with another student if you get a schedule you don't like.
