Tarrant County College ADN Fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi there! This topic is for students applying for TCCD Fall 2016 ADN program. I'm excited about getting the ball rolling!

I took the HESI back in August and the critical thinking section wasn't part of the exam. Has anyone heard if the HESI has to be taken again with the critical thinking section? I turned in my application before I knew about the new HESI requirements, so I emailed Katherine Aultman and she advised me that my HESI scores have been accepted. However I talked to a few other people that have emailed her and they have conflicting information, so I just don't know. I really don't want to take the HESI again if I don't have to, but I don't want it to keep me from being accepted into the nursing program. Did anyone else take the HESI in August?

@texanbred, I took it in August and made an 88.5 so I ended up scheduling to retake it again since w/ a 3.5 GPA and 88.5 HESI I did not make the cut. I think alternates were 3.5 GPA and 91 HESI for Spring 2016 start. When I asked Katherine said the CT section is going to be used as a tie breaker.

I took the Hesi A2 yesterday at UTA. Critcal thinking was not apart of the test and I made an 87.5. I emailed Katherine and was told that I should retake the Hesi with critical thinking to aim for a higher score and that critical thinking was used as tie breakers.

Thanks for the information! I took the HESI in August with the intent of applying for the Fall 2016 nursing program. I took it early so I could retake it if I didn't like my grade. I made a 96 so I definitely don't want to take it again if I don't have to. I guess I won't stress about the critical thinking section. I just have to wait and hope my grades are high enough to be accepted.

Hi all,

I just came across this thread. I'm applying for Fall 2016 as well. I hate that everybody has so much anxiety but I'm happy not to be the only person stressing out. I dropped off my app at the beginning of February so I feel like I've already been waiting forever.

I'm dropping off my application on Friday after I take my HESI. I need to go tomorrow to get my passport photo done. I'm looking forward to turning everything in but not on the wait for acceptance emails. @kylieneden I bet the wait has seemed extra long.

I got all my stuff done in January so as soon as they posted the packet and app I was ready to go. It's been miserable waiting for the application period to end so they can start processing them. I feel pretty good about my scores but the longer I wait the more anxious I get.

@kylieneden did you take the HESI that has a critical thinking section? I'm wondering what the questions are like. I'm feeling confident on all other sections but cannot seem to find anything that can give me a sense of what the CT section is like.

Unfortunately, no, I didn't take it the CT section. I took my HESI back in August and they didn't have it on there. I did email Katherine, though, to be sure that I didn't need it since I already submitted my app and she told me not to worry about it. The other sections weren't super hard (to me) so I can't imagine the CT would be super difficult. Im not sure what kind of questions it is, though.

Hi guys! I'm applying for Fall 2016 and the wait is killing me. I already turned in my packet middle of February so it's taking forever. I also took my Hesi August of last year so I didn't have the CT part on there. Good luck to all of you who are about to take it!!

Those who have already turned in their applications, do you mind sharing your Hesi A2 scores & science gpa? I have 2 B's and an A in my sciences and is retaking the Hesi in the morning. I just want to be sure my grades are competitive enough.

Niekh13, I have 3 B's and a 92 on the Hesi. I'm worried that my 3 B's are to low though.
