Tallahassee Community College Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

I am very excited to apply for TCC's Spring 2014 cohort! I have a 3.7 GPA and 90.5 HESI score, totaling 143.5 points. I also completed microbiology and humanities.

I feel good about my score, based on previous posters having 138 points and ultimately getting in. We have put down our $1k deposit on day care and have arranged our lives for a January start date.

Good luck to everyone, we have all worked very hard to get to this point!

Does anyone have the class names we are supposed to register for? I thought they would send us an updated list via email so I failed to write them down.

Kayla- 1020C, 1141, 1213C Concepts fundies and pharmacology . Congrats.

Shivakamini - Went today there is no fee for the UI. my bad it IS the 25th.

Also contrary to previous suggestions you do not pay for the finger printing. According to CP it is included in the fee paid to CP.

Kayla do you know what rank you were before being accepted?

To the alternates: I too was an alternate initially, and was 3rd on the list. However, I got my "accepted" letter a week after the first. Email when out. Last year when I applied I was the 6th alternate on the list and got my accepted letter 2 days before the orientation. Good luck!!

Thank you nanny2nurse. I'm staying optimistic. I'm trying to figure out if the shot record that I have will be good enough. It's one that my mom filled out when I was a kid but it's not signed by a doctor. I emailed school and they told me I had to submit it to the website link they emailed out. I didn't receive this email (I'm assuming because I'm an alternate). I don't want to bug them with all these questions, but I have a doctors appt tomorrow to get my varicella vaccine and I needed to know if I should go ahead and get titers done.

Thanks nanny2nurse, and congrats. I hope I don't get a phone call 2 days before classes start, but will still be grateful if thats the case. If you don't mind me asking is that why you didn't start the program last semester? are they usually good with giving you enough time to get things situated and turned in with such late notice?

That's awesome! Thanks for the info :)

Has anyone decided on a CPR course? It seems that there is a huge price gap between the course that Southeastern offers versus the American Red Cross (limited) courses that I found.

Megan- Based on what I know I don't think that form will be enough. I'm pretty sure it needs to be signed by a doctor. If I where you I'd either call the drs who administered those vaccines or just get the titters done.

Chelsea- I actually did start the program. I was in it the first 6wks but was not able to continue because I got a grade of 74.58 in fundamentals where a 75 is needed to pass.

I did my CPR class at southeastern ($62) and they let us out 1.5 hours early but classes are very limited so def call NOW! And if u grew up in FL the health dept has ur shot records in their system and coming from someone w/ no health insurance it was really cheap to get shots there and they signed my form for me.

Does anyone know how the background check/fingerprinting/drug screening works? I'm outta town til the 10th and want to make sure I will have time to do that. I don't have acces to computer (only phone) so I haven't done website yet. Do they give a time/date to go or do u just call a certain place and make appointment? And how long does getting an appt and getting results take? Thanks

Does anyone know how the background check-Completly online no appt needed

fingerprinting-UPS store on Monroe st. have to make an Appt .

drug screening works- Pee in a cup, no appt needed .

And how long does getting an appt and getting results take- Process is prety quick. Pay your 167 scan, fax or email a bunch of stuff and role on.

I have worked for Red cross trained agencies and AHA trained facilities no diffrence in classes as long as it's a BLS course. If your already AHA trained and your cert exspired in the last year you can take the renewal course. a little cheaper at $57.

I hope we get to find out what our textbooks are soon.

Thanks Nanny2nurse for the info. I know you will do better this semester because this time you will know what to expect! I guess they aren't cutting any slack because you were really close.

Hey can someone please let me know what the required vaccines are? I'm trying to work out what titers I need to get but they didn't send the alternates a list of them. Thanks!!
