hey there...i didn't get a chance to read your entire post but from what i saw...i didn't really see any of those topics on the exam and i've taken it twice...the last time was in april. i had a lot of priority/triage questions, isolation precautions, 2 calculations, acid-base imbalances, a handful of meds, seemed like quite a bit of cardiac questions, hypo/hyperthyroid stuff, diabetes related...insulin, etc. i also wanna say i had quite a bit of ob questions...like complications. but for the most part, seems like every other question was a priority question..."who would you assess first"...."who would you call back first"....oh, also room assignments. i hope that helps a bit! good luck!

Wow I got tired just reading your post :) Seriously, don't stress out about it sometimes you can "overthink" the question. Just go in there confident. I remember having questions about topics that I NEVER learned in school. RELAX and you will do fine.
thank u for the responses.

If you do not know this stuff by now, do not worry about it. You really should be relaxing your mind the day before taking NCLEX. The last thing you should be doing is trying to cram a bunch of facts. Good luck to you!

1. sterile gloves are for "sterile" procedures (i.e. catheter instertion, sterile dressing changes, surgery, etc), clean gloves are for "clean" procedures (i.e. clean dressing change, injections, ostomy change, etc)
2. everything should be standard precautions and if it has purulent drainage I would guess contact precautions because thats usually bacteria in there and could be MRSA.
3. tai chi is a form of relaxation thats been proven to help with stress?
4. I would look that up on the CDC website.
5. i can't think of this on the top of my head so I won't answer!
6. i dont understand this question
7. For this one, I would definitely read what the answers are and remember therapeutic communication!
8. therapeutic communication again, If the patient says "i lost my wife 2 months ago" and nothing else I would probably delve further into that and ask about the feelings. If he says "i am so sad I lost my wife 2 months ago" i would say "I understand that losing your wife has made you feel sad" that way you are using empathy! hope this helps.
9. I can't answer this one!
10. I think pneumonia is droplet precautions ( dont quote me on this one) remember EVERYTHING is standard precautions no matter who you are working with!
11. yes or contact?
12. I just had this question on a practice question today! If the choices are: apply heat to help it into the muscle or rub the injection site pick the heat one, but you can rub an IM injection its just not as good as applying heat. (according to my practice question!)
GOOD LUCK and I hope I helped at least a little bit, and this is nothing I have looked up just from memory so I may be wrong.

Ok so I am taking my boards tomorrow also..SO FREAKING NERVOUS!!! N E way, from what I remember, if disaster, you prioritize caring for those that are most STABLE FIRST... If triaging in ER, you prioritize by caring for the LEAST STABLE FIRST..
PS. I feel like I dont know anything rite now :).. So wierd...Keep us all posted and GOOD LUCK.. I will keep you in my prayers!

At this time it makes no sense to be looking stuff up, you should have spent the day relaxing. Good luck.
