Taking NCLEX in 6 Weeks Using Kaplan Review!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi Guys! I am sooo stressed with going through all the reviews. I have used Saunders Blue Book 5th edition cover to cover but it seems like I have not retained anything! I just started on the Kaplan Review a week ago and so far I have done 4 Videos, Diagnostics and QT1 and 2. Here are my results so far:

Diagnostic: 49%

QT1--------60%

QT2--------52%

Ohmy goodness! Am I gonna continue on reviewing? I feel so discouraged right now. I have already scheduled my exam and I am seriously freaking out. Help...

thats good! not too terrible but aim for 56+!

also, i suggest you use one more item to test your knowledge with kaplan i.e. saunders, ncsbn, hurst etc...

Thanks FunnyNurse10! That'd mean more $$$ though... How important is the content? i felt that I know the answers but I would get them wrong...

I'm just so discouraged right now I can barely focus. ergghhh

Breathe! We have all been there, and if anyone ever tells you that studying for this monster isn't stressful they are lying. Honestly, it's normal!

That said, six weeks is a really really long time to bring up your scores! Do the q bank-at least 100 questions a day, read the rationales, and be sure you understand them. Study 5-6 days a week, but take at least one day a week to distress and relax. Kee doing the q trainers and watch your results go up...you aren't that far away, aim for the 60% or better range and you should be there by test day!

hiii! its actually free, if you type hurst mp3 free 4shared youll find links to the lecture content

and also just as scaredsilly says it takes time before your scores go up,. bu make sure you finish qbank before you finish the rest of the q.trainers

content is very important...! because you may see EKG's as i did or even certain electrolyte imbalance q's and if you dont know the content itll be hard.

Thank you so much for the good words... I know I had been stressing my self a lot but I just can't help it.! lol I'm trying my very best...I hope my scores will go up soon!

Wow thanks for that. Im currently using Kaplan RN Course book as a reviewer together with their content videos. I didn't even notice I already studied half of the book.lol

Why do you suggest to finish the Qbank first? My classes (Live Online) will start next week. Do you think I should start the Qbank now even if the classess haven't started yet?

Thanks!!!

hi no review all content from the book that you have thru kaplan and next week when you go to their live class they dont teach much content they just go over questions but once u finish content do the QBANK then the q.trainers...youll see a great jump in graades

I did the same content (Saunders & Kaplan). I did all of the Kaplan: the videos, the QBank, RN practice tests, and all of the QTs. It was very frustrating as I was scoring in the 50-60% and became discouraged. I reviewed the Saunders CD questions and did about the first 1,300 questions to boost my confidence as I had better success with Saunders (75-80%). I had rescheduled my NCLEX three times and then finally decided it was time. I took the NCLEX and afterwords totally felt defeated. I called my wife and told her that I knew I had failed. She said you don't know for sure. I'm glad she had faith in me because I know I didn't. I got home and did the Pearson Vue trick and nearly fainted as I got the good pop-up. Paid for the 48 hour Quick results two days later and found out that I did indeed passed. My wife was right, stay positive and you will do well. Best of luck!

Thanks a lot funnyNurse10. Will definitely do that... And I am hoping there will be a big change on my grades. :shy:

Thanks for sharing that SoonSurgery... My husband has a pretty good faith in me too.. He believe I would pass on first take...I am doubtful about my self too seeing my grades in Kaplan would sometimes make me cry.lol It's just that I know I am trying so hard but nothing seems to happen. But I will keep on trying. Congratulations by the way!:)
