There are lots of tips on the NCLEX forum. It boils down to getting a calendar, giving yourself an appointment from one to three or four months out, then making a study plan and starting. Get yourself a study resource and map out your study plan using that as a guide. Do as many questions as possible and study the rationales. Many people are successful using Saunders Comprehensive Review, but you can go to the bookstore and find the reference that looks best for you. Then get to work. Good luck.
Sounds that we are in the same boat. I have been reviewing for a year (on and off ) but was scared to take the test until It came to expiry date of my permit..Now, I've only got 1 month and I feel that I'm doing nothing everyday although I just sneek and read then do some Q and A's but I really don't seat and take the review seriously. And then there's my new work and I'm using it as an excuse not to review..
But I just keep on doing it..Try to get some encouragement from closest friends and relatives or read some threads in this site.,It will surely help you and boost your confidence..It's what I do before I do "some" review. It's like a power booster/energy drink..:)
~PRACTICE AS MANY QUESTIONS AS YOU CAN!! Atleast 3000-5000!!
~And only look up a term/disease or whatever you don't understand on the internet (which would be much faster then going through books after books)
~ Use this to start off: http://legacy.southeast.kctcs.edu/nclexpn3000/mainMenu.do;jsessionid=D4CE54D52E3B2C9AB85E246B187DFA57
~ Don't read BOOKS!! Only use a book to understand a disease/contents. Best book/cd for contents is SAUNDERS!!
~ Pray to GOD with a clean mind/thoughts
~ GOODLUCK
True. I use this site to boost my confidence. I am done with the Qbank and almost done with the saunders...do questions and read the color blocks in the saunders only and you will get a good overview of every body systems. By the way, I ahve done over 3000 questions so far and taking NCLEX Monday.
i know how you all feel. i took the Nclex last september. Failed it.
during that time, i never did study seriously. i felt like i was a bipolar patient...doing questions vigorously 1 week...then the next i slack off and dont do anything.
with my preparations now im still doing this "start stop" thing.
But recently i told myself, that to attain something, you've got to give up or sacrifice another thing. The thing i want to attain most is passing the nclex...so i told myself i'll sacrifice every single thing that causes me distraction and leave it up to God to guide me.
today's me first day focusing on nclex. it does hurt a lot to give up things i enjoy and love...but i feel like it has held me down for so long ... i need to get over this hill. i need to pass this thing.

Sounds like ur on the right track!! Goodluck.
Fear took over me after I completed school. I've been listening to negative stuff about nclex and more so did not take the review seriously... so I failed the first time. Depression, procastination and name it.. drives me more away to nclex.. "Hey.. Me" is that what I really wanted to happened... Hell no.. Now am pushing myself, clearing my mind of the negative stuff, refraining fr reading the (if I can) the "I failed stories"... reading inspiring stories on how they pass nclex... Honestly its difficult but am ready to face nclex again...
Good Luck to you..

i feel like i havent been taking the nclex seriously, i just finished lpn school and i figured the nclex would be some easy standarized test like the fcat was in highschool, but then our school had us take exit caps from eri world and i failed the first time, what makes it so bad is i thought i passed it, now im scared to take the nclex and i feel so unprepared as though i dont remember anything i learned in school... any advice? what should i use to study? :heartbeat im terrified now!!!!
