Taking NCLEX for the 2nd time Aug. 14 and need a study buddy!

Published

i graduated this past may 09 and took boards june 24. i didn't pass and my job has agreed to work with me in hopes that i will stay with them. so, i'm working 8-5 monday thru friday and all i'm doing is studying until i retake boards august 14th!! i really need help! i have the saunders book and am going to get the 2010 kaplan review book this weekend, but i feel like i'm missing something important. my job has been so great in working with me and not only do i not want to fail for my own reasons but i don't want my work to think they wasted their time on me. i am a great nurse! i know that, but i don't know how to answer questions. i felt as though the nclex didn't reflect my knowledge and competency as a rn. any advice would be much appreciated!!

In my opinion, I thought the nclex was more mental than anything. That is why Kaplan wants you to use relaxation techniques. Think about it you went to nursing school for two years or more, you have all the knowledge already to tackle the test. If you can just tell yourself, you can do it and stay focus....you really can.

I exercised the week before, ate healthy, tried to sleep and pray. I actually wrote my name with the RN after it the week before the test and keep starring at it and telling myself, "Yes I can". The key is to do as many questions as possible and learn the strategies. Focus in key areas and think positive.

By the way, I passed with 75 questions first time. I knew the minute the screen went blue after 75 questions that I passed. I thought the nclex was not that bad at all maybe it was because I was relaxed. My brain was able to function better with less anxiety.

Remember: if you can believe it, you can achieve it!

Thanx FutureNurse35, RN:yeah:

i know alot of mine was because of anxiety! i completely froze up. i take medication to help me with it and i figured i could do it on my own and stopped it before graduation... then boards came and i needed my anxiety medication and an anti nausea!!

i am definitly doing my saunders, and kaplan! what do you think about going over topics we are weak in.. for example one day you suggest something thats your weakness and we will toss around questions we find that are helpful or quick facts and then another day we will do something i'm weak in.. that way we are both learning something
