i graduated this past may 09 and took boards june 24. i didn't pass and my job has agreed to work with me in hopes that i will stay with them. so, i'm working 8-5 monday thru friday and all i'm doing is studying until i retake boards august 14th!! i really need help! i have the saunders book and am going to get the 2010 kaplan review book this weekend, but i feel like i'm missing something important. my job has been so great in working with me and not only do i not want to fail for my own reasons but i don't want my work to think they wasted their time on me. i am a great nurse! i know that, but i don't know how to answer questions. i felt as though the nclex didn't reflect my knowledge and competency as a rn. any advice would be much appreciated!!

Hello ktbeth..i have been answering questions with rationale. I 've done 200 so far with rationale.
I haven't really done any reading on content. Do you think its a good idea? I don't know i'm starting to stress out again and once i feel this way i will lost track of the topic or content i'm supposed to be focusing on.
I'm doing practice test right now on post partum. So far not doing well.
Hope your doing alright there. Keep up!

is it just me or I feel a little better about taking it the 2nd time? Probably because I already know what to expect on D-Day! hahaha... LOL...
Like I said before, I took Kaplan course and I think that kaplan's questions were so much like the NCLEX... Saunders i think would be good for content. I plan to just brush on my content part using Saunders, but i will still try to follow the study plan that katie created for us!
On the other hand, how is everyone's day doing so far? I need optimism and positive thoughts so...here it goes:
Some of us have emerged from the most painful circumstances with strong insights about who we are and what we want. Our mistakes? Necessary. Our frustrations, failures, and sometimes stumbling attempts at growth and progress? Necessary too. Each step of the way, we learned. We went through exactly the experiences we need to, to become who we are today. Each step of the way, we progressed. Is our past a mistake? No. The only mistake we can make is mistaking that for the truth.
and ...
Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, if they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere.
Something to think about for today :)
