Taking NCLEX in February.. need advice!

Published

So to prepare for the NCLEX I have Kaplan and U world. I haven't been scoring high on Kaplan at all..

diagnostic: 64%

trainer 1: 59%

trainer 2: 56%

trainer 3: 46%

trainer 4: 61%

trainer 5: 53%

trainer 6: 54%

and I'm not sure how to find my q bank average... if someone could tell me how to that would be awesome but off the top of my head I've done maybe 250 q bank questions so far and I'm averaging low 50's.

I'm getting very discouraged and feeling like I'm not getting better jsut getting worse as I practice!

Also, I have u world, which I haven't used much of yet. Since you can create your own tests, does anyone have advice on how to utilize u world and create the tests?

Thanks so so much in advance!

Hi there! I just took the NCLEX this week, and passed in 75 questions. I also used Kaplan and UWorld and scored in the low 50s to 60s. I felt like my scores weren't improving as I kept studying, which was discouraging but just remember that the more questions you do, the better off you will be!! My best advice would be to make sure to remediate every single question, right or wrong. On kaplan, try to think like they do and rewatch the videos where they go over questions again to get in that mindset. For UWorld, I loved it because the questions were similar to NCLEX but the rationales totally helped me understand content as I went along. Also, keep in mind that on the NCLEX, once you reach the passing standard area, you'll probably be getting 50% right, 50% wrong. And since Kaplan trainers are mostly the higher level, you could be doing really well if those questions were on the real test. Don't overthink it too much. You've got this. Good luck!!

Has anyone ever used Picmonic.com to help them pass. I'm trying things to help me after failing the NCLEX 13 times.

Did you found the content on u world was similar to content in NCLEX? how long you studied for your 4th attempt? I am multiple test takers too! Congrats on passing!

Yes I found it very similar I purchased the 30 day trial and put all my other books away Saunders, Kaplan etc and just studied off UWorld I would do 100-130 q's a day and read every single thing on the rationales so yes I highly recommend UWorld I feel that you overwhelm yourself if your doing more than 1 item to study that's just my personal opinion....but good look to u í ¾í´—

Thanks for the reply! Have you taken notes on rationals then you went back to review the rationals your weak on? I am focusing on u world mostly too!! but I have failed before with using u world....all my categories were near passing.

Sure no problem :).i did not take notes cause I know I wouldn't go back to them I would google a lot of terminology I was unaware with and just tons of questions :) hope this helps

Nurselola thanks!

This is for the RN test right?

No im sorry I should of clarified it was for LPN

I have been getting 48% to 53% SO THANKS for the encouragement i pushed my test date back like 5 times I decided taking mines in Feb as well I decided to do 50-75 questions a day I may increase it. I read the rationales which takes forever but it worth it I go over the ones that I even answer correctly.

We are in the same boat...this time using UWorld I have typed out notes for the things I keep getting wrong & review them more in depth

Nursetobe89,

Can I ask you some questions?

I failed twice using ATI and Kaplan. This time I' m using only uworld. What was your percentile in uworld before taking nclex? Mine is in 52nd percentile and I have left 300 questions. My exam in 2 weeks. So nervous. Please advise.

Hello everyone!

i took the nclex 1/25/17 and passed at 75?S by preparing with:

ATI

UWorld

& Saunders comprehensive text book

i was scoring in the 50s & 60s on uworld

i scored a 84% chance of passing the boards on first attempt on the ATI predictor

I scored 90% chance of passing the boards on first attempt on the Uworld predictor

i found that uworld was the closest to the actual boards, I did 100s of questions and read all of uworlds rationales when I got those questions wrong.

I had under 20 SATA, a lot of priority; who to d/c first who to see first, some precautions ?s, 3 drug calc, 1 pharm, 1 pedi, no OB, No EKgs, no audio or exhibits, a lot of fundamentals and med surge

hope this helps :) good luck everyone!!
