Taking a Job with YouTube as Your Training

Published

I applied for an infusion nurse and I am already seeing major red flags. First off, the office that I applied at is disorganized. The training was suppose to be over 6 weeks, now I am told I have to pick up two cases this week. A preceptor is going to be there for the first two hours, then leave. And my training is watching YouTube videos. Also, I cannot get a straight answer about pay. I know each client case will vary, but could I at least get a ball park figure? The more I think about it, the more I am starting to feel like I shouldn't do it.

Yep, I'd run like heck.

YouTube is not orientation. It is not training. It will not provide you with the skills to practice as a prudent nurse in that position.

Youtube aside, never take a job when you don't know how much they're paying you.

Yes, this. Why would you ever accept a job without knowing how much it pays?

I asked and couldn't get a straight answer. Everyone in the office is new except for the DON. And she was so "busy" she couldn't answer my question.
