I am starting my year long journey of taking pre-reqs for my nursing school. I have signed at a local community college here in Charlotte, NC, CPCC for the following classes. Sociology, Psychology, and Anthropology. They are all 101's.
Has anyone taken these classes online? If so, how are they, what is the course work, assignements, conferences, tests,exams, quizzes like?
The reason I need to know is because school starts 08/16/2010. My due date is 09/02/2010. I already have purchased my books and materials and have started to read. Is this doable???? I will be home on maternity leave for over half the semester. I will have a newborn and a 2 year old. My mother will be here to help me full time(she is retired).
Please let me know your experiences. I have a low undergraduate GPA. I have a goal to make straight A's in all my pre-req courses. I have a little while before I can drop and get my 100% refund. Any advice, words of experience would help.
I took Psych 101 online, It wasn't to bad it all depends on your instructor like everyone else said. You do have to pase your self and just make sure you get plenty of rest so that you can focus on your assignments
It really depends on the instructor how vigorous the workload is going to be. I took Sociology online and it was a pretty easy A... I had an awesome professor though. You may want to check Rate my Professors to help choose a good one. Good luck!:)
I've taken both of these classes online along with several others. Online classes are perfect for me. I can do work on MY time - early in the morning when the kiddos are asleep or during the day when they are at school. Some classes I could work ahead, others that was not allowed. You can definitely handle the three classes online with your two kids, especially with your mom there as an extra pair of hands as you are trying to complete a discussion board post before deadline. Read ahead and do as much as you can before your baby arrives. I'd also email the professors ahead of time and let them know why you will be "offline" for a few days - just don't miss a deadline, if at all possible. Ditto on the comments about ratemyprofessor.com and ditto the comments about looking for prof's with consistent high marks for fairness and approachablity. I had an "easy A" prof once. Yes, I got an A, but the class drove me crazy.

I clepped out of my Psychology class last week. Studied for about 3 weeks using Instacert and peterson's practice exams. Max high score is a 80 and you need a 50 to pass. 95 questions and you get about 80 mins to complete the test. I got a 72. Easiest college credits I ever got. I will be clepping my sociology class in 3 weeks to get that done. I plan to clep a few more over the next year so I can have 9 classes I need for my BSN completed by next summer.
Hi I am also looking to take PSY 150 online due to the fact that I have to be a full time student but I also have to work so may I ask who was your professor? I looked for The only two professors I found for Online and I don't know who to pick.
