Can I take all of the following classes in one semester and make great grades in order to make nursing school deadline in September?
Eng 101
Math 101
A&P
Dev. Pysch
Microbiology
Psych.
Human Nutrition
Given that:
I have been in college before
I have no other responsibilities
I am single, no job, no kids, no pets, can opt out for having a life for the summer and have money saved up for living expenses
I have a great drive and focus
Is that crazy? Is it possible to make great grades? Thanks for any input.
how about you take a couple of those during the 2nd half of summer school, a few in the fall, and the remaining classes in the winter intercession? 20+ credits is a lot! especially since you're thinking of taking micro and a&p among them all.also, isn't gen. psych a pre-requisite for dev. psych?
how about this:
Summer - Math 101, English 101
Fall - A&P, Micro, Psychology
Winter - Dev. Psych, Nutrition
I would rearrange your schedule you've outlined. Most people struggle with A&P and Micro - and I've heard some counselors say it's suicide to take both in one semester. I personally loved Micro and thought it was very easy - but wouldn't take them together.
I would do:
Summer - English 101, Micro
Fall - A&P, Math 101, Psych
Winter - Dev. Psych, Nutrition
English 101 should be easier as there is not really a memorization component. If you wanted to condense it into 2 semesters I would do:
Summer - Eng 101, Micro, Psych
Fall - A&P, Math 101, Dev Psych, Nutrition
If you don't have a job, kids, etc, the 2 semester schedule above should be easy for you.
Good luck!
My suggestion:Semester 1 - Math 101, English 101, Psych., A&P
Semester 2 - Nutrition, Micro, Dev. Psych.
or, you can reverse the sciences. better yet, talk to a counselor at your school. this is what they're there for :-)!!!
I didn't see this until after i posted. I agree with this schedule!!
If GPA is at all a concern, DO NOT DO IT!!!!! Take it from someone who thought they could do more than the "average student" and is regretting it....
I have been taking 2 classes a semester and trying to keep it to one lab class, one other class... I have an extremely active toddler and not much help with child care, so I must do all my studing after he goes to bed (when it's quiet). I did this for 3 semesters and got As in all my classes; in fact, I've had A plusses in Biology, Psychology and medical terminology. Now I am done with all my "non-science" requirements so I'm doing two lab classes at a time.
Even though everyone told me not to, this summer I am taking Chemistry (8 week class) and Microbiology (5 week class) at the same time. Even with a babysitter so I can take classes during the day and have my nights free to study, IT IS KILLING ME!!! Micro is not hard, but it's HOURS of work in addition to class time each day. Chemistry is horrible - we have about two hours of problems to work on each night (including weekends) in addition to reading and studying. It's not the subject matter; it's the volume of information that's the problem. There are not enough hours in the day to do all the reading, studying and homework that is required, and there's NEVER a break, even on weekends. I cry every day out of sleep deprivation and frustration that I am not doing better for all my efforts. I will be LUCKY to get a B in Chem; I'm not expecting it. I think I'll end up with a B in Micro.
I know things would be different if this were a normal semester instead of a summer session, but taking 2 lab classes at the same time oveer the summer is more work than I ever would have imagined. Even if you were to take 23 credits with no other personal commitments, the sheer amount of homework you are likely to have in classes like English and Math could make it undoable. At least it would be undoable for me. There is only so much studying you can do in a day before your brain is just fried and you can't remember anything else.
I see that this was posted before most summer sessions began, but I just wanted to put in my two cents in case anyone else was thinking of attempting the impossible!!! Sorry to be such a downer!!!!

YOUR GPA will be affected greatly, if you slack off.
I've been in the same situation.
I've basically rushed all my pre-req's and only
got B's and C's when I could have gotten A's and B's instead.
Since you have the experience already, some classes will be easier then others. The schedule is do-able...just split up A&P and Micro if possible and remember to study when ever, where ever possible.
