Nursing is nothing if not an intense occupation. Sometimes we dream about it.

I just woke up horrified to discover that I had five out of seven patients that I never got a chance to look at or assess for the entire shift! :uhoh3:

So glad THAT's never happened in real life, but it's 0530 and there's no way I'm gonna be able to sleep.

How often do you dream about your job?

Wow, that must be the universal Nurses' Anxiety dream. Had a variation on that one a couple of times: end of shift, realized I had a pt or pts I hadn't known about. I always wake up feeling like I had no rest at all!

all i remember of one dream, is the danged med cart tipped over....:p

You guys are hilarious! I actually dream about work a fair bit. I used to always have the dream where it was change of shift and the oncoming nurse would ask me for a report on a patient I didn't know I was supposed to be looking after. Then I had the baby dropping dream a lot when I first started NICU. I'd always be trying to weigh a premie on a vent who didn't have a bedscale and I'd drop him on the way to the scale. The really disturbing part was the sound the baby makes when it hits the floor... kind of a splat crossed with a smush.

I also have coworker dreams a fair bit, especially when someone has been cranky with me.

seriously! i can still hear it in my head when i think about it. work affects my subconscious waaaaaayyyyy too much. i even find myself humming the songs that play on our baby mobiles when i'm walking my dog and have woken up to my clock alarm saying "whose baby is that? will you get the monitor alarm?".

Nah, I think you are fairly normal. No tx needed. Just a little Indian magic.....

One night I dreamed that my bedroom was in the DONs office, and I woke up to hear one of my residents yelling and I said I'll be in to help you when I get out of bed. That was the last time I ever took Singular, because the intense dreams were listed as a side effect.

1- the classic "naked" dream where I of course just could not find any scrubs or clothes for that matterr and had to go to work naked.

2- I think it was during that same dream every patient started to crash and I had done no assessments (or for some reason knew nothing about my patients)

3- After doing a really rough shift working charge and then working charge and secretary for 4 hours at the end of a shift, I dreamt all night about looking at charts. Then when the alarm went off I looked at it and it said "5:05" which my mind thought was "505" and being I work on the 5th floor the first thing I thought was "now what does she want this time" lol:trout: :lol2: . It took me a few minutes of the stupid alarm going off to tell me that it wasn't the call light but was indeed the alarm clock and the start of another 12 hour shift :monkeydance:

I am enjoying this post My most memorable vivid dream was when I was learning to draw blood. I dreamed this really mean doc was yelling at me to just get the blood so I tied my tourniquet around the patient's neck and stuck them in the jugular vein....proceeded to draw my rainbow.

I deamt that I took my hive meds (atarax, 250mg!!) and that when I went to work, I was so tired I couldnt figure out what pts were mine....I couldnt read the assignment sheet! Next thing I knew, I was driving home b/c I was so tired and realized that I hadnt told anyone that I left! I went into panic mode driving down the interstate trying to decide if I should drive the 20 miles back to work and tell them where I had gone or if I should call, or what. I thgouht my career was over!

I had another dream where my pt died and I had left to sleep/walk the halls before it happened and I walked back on the unit after it happened and thought I would lose my job.
