Nursing Students NCLEX

Took the test today and found the questions very difficult, nothing like the saunders review book or what I learned in school or the review I attended. The test stopped at question157 -- such an odd number. three students in my class passed last week and all said the test ended at 85 and said they felt the same way I did. I had passed all my exit exams but this nclex left me stumped and feel awful right now. The questions were all hard and at one point I just started guessing at every question from 85 on and stopped at question 157. I really think and know I failed:uhoh3:. Now I have to wait out the weekend till tuesday night for the result.

Can anyone let me know what their experience was like.

the same thing happened to me this morning. my test stopped at 85. i'm sure i did not pass. the questions were hard, and the more i review the more i think i got wrong. makes for a miserable weekend. A lot of pharm questions and "select all". i am disappointed. i had hoped the test would continue at least to 150. im sure you did fine.

hey you know if it cuts off at 85 it means you usually passed.. theres a bunch of threads on here that say cut off at 85.. its ok mine cut off at like 86.. such a random odd number.. one above the minimun.. and I believe I failed.. so no worry.. everyone i know whose cut off at 85 passed..;)

the test went to 157 not 85 that is why im worried. :uhoh3:

hmm.. remember the nclex is an adaptive testing so it gives you an easy question and then a harder one. the nclex also has a minimum of 85 questions and maximum of 205. Its different for everyone, like how i failed at 86 when someone has passed at 86. I know its stressful.. waiting for results, but stay optimistic. Im sure you did fine.

For some the test cuts off right at the minimum and for others it cuts off 94, 100, 133, 157, 170 questions into it. Like alvernvern said it's adaptive.

Mine cut off at the minimum and I passed, a friend of mine had hers cut off at the minimum too and she failed.

I have my fingers crossed for you! Good luck.

EVERYONE walks out thinking they failed. EVERYONE.

I have no words of wisdom on how to relax. I simply couldn't until I check quick results.

It is not true that each test that ends at 85 assures passing. Just as it is not a guarentee that a person can sit for the entire 205 have failed. It is an adaptive exam, however, what is supposed to happen is that if the computer gets to the 85th question and is not sure that you have minimal understanding and safety, it continues until the computer has determined either way which way to vote, so to speak. I think that exam is the total sum of insanity. I have seen it happen from both ends, where a person may have failed. I have also witnessed and experienced that the majority of people believe in their heart of hearts that they failed, but were pleasently surprized that they have, in fact, passed. Good luck! You may have done better than you thought!

Amazingly I passed!! I have never been more worried. felt as if I answered everything wrong. it's such a relieve to be done. just wanted to say thanks for the replies and support. I was a mess on Friday night and felt so much better after reading through the forum. It's quite theraupeutic!!! I wish everyone the very best who is awaiting their score.

hey you know if it cuts off at 85 it means you usually passed

Keep in mind that for a first-time, US-educated tester whose exam cuts off at any number, they usually pass (~85%) - period.

Great job, mclar! It's a rough feeling when you're waiting for results.

I am in the same boat. I took it yesterday and I couldn't sleep last night. I started studying my drug handbook. I think have resigned to the fact that I will study more planning to take it again and if I pass I will be pleasantly suprised.
