SUNY Farmingdale Advanced Standing Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

HI!!!

I'm sure new to the site and I just had a few questions on the SUNY Farmingdale Advanced Standing program. I have applied for the spring term and will be taking my Teas test this month.

I have a 3.2 under grad GPA, over 5,000 direct patient care hours and have been studying like crazy for the Teas so I hope to do well on that. Any guess on my chances for getting in??

Any one in the program or graduated from it want to give me some reviews on how it was, would you recommend it? How is the faculty? How are the clinicals?

The only thing that has really thrown me off with the program is that you HAVE to do it in 3 years and since I have so many prereqs, they told me I will have to be part-time some semesters, aka no financial aid :(.

Would it be worth it to retake some classes this year and get up my GPA and then apply to Stony Brook two year program?? or even a PA program! I would be technically have my BSN or PA masters around the same time!

I don't know which is a better program, Stony Brook or Farmingdale. Obviously SB has the bigger name, but I do not want to discount Farmingdale until I know it is or isn't a good option.

What is your guys opinion??

Should take the chance with SB and do my courses there non- matriculated? and apply there?

or go the Farmingdale 3 year program?

.............If i even get in

@Dbella1284

are you still applying to stony brook? I was considering still applying because of the two year time span at SBU vs the three year program at FSC. But I honestly feel in my heart that FSC is where I need to be so I've been procrastinating in applying to SBU :shy: Plus I'm loving the fact that at FSC the campus is easier to get around and that the class sizes are a bit smaller.

Hey

Im definitely not going to apply to stony brook now that I was accepted to farmingdale. I live like 10mins away so its perfect. Once i graduate though i want to go into a NP program and thats when I will look into Stony Brook again :) I also already completed all my pre reqs and liberal arts requirments so i dont know how my schedule will be just nursing classes? Lol but did you recieve anything in the mail btw? Im wondering if they sent anything out yet

Hi. I'm in the same situation as you. I have completed all the other prerequisites and liberal arts credit. So do u know if we will be able to graduate a semester or two early? Cuase I may have to do part time if it's three years😣 And I haven't got any updates in mail yet. Let me know if u guys do😊

Yes I dont see how it could possibly still take 3 yrs with everything completed, I will have to be part time too im thinking

I just looked and it says application accepted so does that mean I'm in?? I'm afraid to get excited haha

Lol thats what im saying, I want an offical letter. But yes I do believe it means we are actually accepted! Congratulations

I'm a little weirded out about the time span too, 3 years seems very long bc I already have a BS in Biology, so I have so many classes completed. I wouldn't mind part time so I could work, but if you're not full time I don't think you are eligible for financial aid which scares me. I would much rather go full time for 2 years and be done sooner, but when I called the women said you can only do it in 3 years bc the sequence the courses and you can only take them in that order and specific semester which stinks :( but yeah we will be RNs which is what the dream is so i'm not going to complain :)

Oh okay awesome we are in the same boat. I have my associates with all the liberal arts requirements done and I'm taking all the sciences I can at SCC including micro this semester just to have even less when we get to FSC.

@laurrri

thanks for for calling them. I'm just trying to keep the mentality that even though it's three instead of two the NCLEX rate is awesome and I'm still better off financially then if I had gone to a private school

BS Advance Standing 3yr :: Farmingdale State College

this is the sequence we take classes not sure how updated it is but doesn't leave too much wiggle room

Thank you for posting that, so basically I will be back and forth part time and full time. Also they do have intersession nursing classes, not all but some so maybe that would be an option.

Just got my E-mail. Nursing Information and Welcome Session Dec 4th at 10:00am.

Me too, see everyone there :)
