SUNY Farmingdale Advanced Standing Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

HI!!!

I'm sure new to the site and I just had a few questions on the SUNY Farmingdale Advanced Standing program. I have applied for the spring term and will be taking my Teas test this month.

I have a 3.2 under grad GPA, over 5,000 direct patient care hours and have been studying like crazy for the Teas so I hope to do well on that. Any guess on my chances for getting in??

Any one in the program or graduated from it want to give me some reviews on how it was, would you recommend it? How is the faculty? How are the clinicals?

The only thing that has really thrown me off with the program is that you HAVE to do it in 3 years and since I have so many prereqs, they told me I will have to be part-time some semesters, aka no financial aid :(.

Would it be worth it to retake some classes this year and get up my GPA and then apply to Stony Brook two year program?? or even a PA program! I would be technically have my BSN or PA masters around the same time!

I don't know which is a better program, Stony Brook or Farmingdale. Obviously SB has the bigger name, but I do not want to discount Farmingdale until I know it is or isn't a good option.

What is your guys opinion??

Should take the chance with SB and do my courses there non- matriculated? and apply there?

or go the Farmingdale 3 year program?

.............If i even get in

Hey guys. I just had a quick question. Did u guys mail in your enrollment deposit (100$) and the form yet? To what address did u mail it to?

I just paid it through the website

Thank you laurrri!! I just paid it online. And do you know if we still have to mail in the enrollment form?

Hi, does anyone know how tosign up for orientation and order uniforms?

Hi!

I'm currently in the Farmingdale nursing program, since I had lots of help on this site, I'll try my best to help you guys!

When I was still a senior in high school, I also had to decide from Stony Brook and Farmingdale. I would say that the pros to going to SB is that there are shorter program lengths and also it have a better name. The reason why I choose to go to Farmingdale was because once you get in, you are officially a true nursing student. The SB programs when I applied only had prenursing as its prerequisite. I heard around 200 plus students get accepted but after 2 years in prenursing, only a handful actually get into the offical nursing program. Farmingdale also starts it's clinical after a year, which I really like about it.

I don't really know a lot about the spring program offered by Farmingdale, since I am in the Fall program. But for the large amounts of classes, if you don't want to do summer classes, you can always choose to take more than 18 credits a semester (just ask for permission to do so), though it sounds like a daring idea, it's very possible. That way you are sure to graduate in time. The classes in the beginning are really easy.

Hi, does anyone know how tosign up for orientation and order uniforms?

Orientation signups here: Orientation

And for the uniforms, you don't order them until you go into clinical.
