SUNY Downstate Summer 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey all! Wanted to start a thread for others who've applied to SUNY Downstate for the accelerated program in Summer 2016. I submitted my application back in August, and am finishing 2 final prerequisites this semester, and am anxiously awaiting a decision!

My application status says, "Application Sent to Committee." Have other folks applied and/or heard back yet? Would love to know if people are starting to get admissions answers, or have a sense of when that might happen.

Good luck everyone!

Hey Everyone! I am new to this forum but I have been following the thread since it began. I have also applied for the Summer 2016 ABSN and am anxiously awaiting a response. My application was submitted close to the deadline and has been in "Faculty Screener 6" for about a month now.

The same just happened to me today. From what I've read in previous posts this is pretty common. I suppose you just have to call them and resubmit

I think faculty screener 6/sent back to the committee for review, is a good thing. Mine has been on incomplete review for two months because I sent in my TEAS scores well after my application was submitted. Does anyone else have incomplete review?

It seems like the average wait time to hear back is between 3-4 months.

What do you guys think about the deadline being changed to space available basis?

Hi! I was also accepted back in November! I committed and I'm so excited to start.

I inquired with admissions about taking Pharmacology and Pathophysiology at BMCC this spring to see if the courses would transfer. I submitted the syllabi for the classes to the Dean and she said that the BMCC courses weren't challenging or detailed enough to accept the transfer credits, and that their Pharm and Patho courses are more intense and cater to the RN boards. She said they weren't permitted to "officially" tell me whether they'd accept them until orientation, but highly recommended not taking them at BMCC in the spring. I was disappointed because I'd love to take them beforehand if I could. Did you hear otherwise?

Congratulations to those who have been accepted! I received my acceptance letter this morning! So excited!! I was wondering if anyone made a FB group yet? Thinking about dorming and may be looking for a roommate.

Congrats to those who've been accepted! Everyone else, good luck! I attempted to create a Facebook group, it's called Downstate Nursing 2016/2017. Hope to "see" some of you folks in it!

I'm in the exact same boat. I am actually registered for Patho @ BMCC, starting end of January, but I don't know if I'm going to take it or not. I really want to, so that I can focus on it and also get it out of the way early, but not if it's not going to "count". Really frustrating that we can't get a straight answer on this! What did you decide?

Piniella I am actually trying to decide whether I should hurry-up and apply for an Epermit in order to take Patho at BMCC also. I see that it is still open but since I will also be taking Microbio (@BMCC)and finishing up my first degree (@Hunter), I am hesitant to take on too much of a workload (if Patho wouldn't be transferred into Downstate). I have also taken 2 Nursing electives so I am hoping that these also transfer for the 2 required in the program. LMK if you decide to stay enrolled in Patho at BMCC.

I just got my acceptance today !!! I currently attend BMCC, what department is patho under? I might want to take it in the spring semester

also, i dont see the link where i can pay my deposit. anyone else having the same issue?

Congrats!!Just a quick question? How long were you guys in "Faculty Screener?" I want to give my self an average wait time

congrats lilazn04! Patho @ BMCC is in the Science dept. One professor teaches it - John raynor, and I've heard good things.

bkalex, I think I was in faculty screener for about 3 weeks.

Is anyone else who's been accepted planning to take classes early (this spring)?
