Hey all! Wanted to start a thread for others who've applied to SUNY Downstate for the accelerated program in Summer 2016. I submitted my application back in August, and am finishing 2 final prerequisites this semester, and am anxiously awaiting a decision!
My application status says, "Application Sent to Committee." Have other folks applied and/or heard back yet? Would love to know if people are starting to get admissions answers, or have a sense of when that might happen.
I applied to the program November 19th and just received my acceptance today! I accepted the offer as of now but I still have an interview with Stony Brook coming up...
Hey Everyone. I'm new to the group. Just got an email today saying I'm an alternate, so I'm pretty much hanging in limbo. I applied at the end of November.
This is actually my 2nd time applying - got the same response last year and then got a notice that I was accepted two weeks before the session started but had to decline the position due to family emergency.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself here. Question for you guys - I noticed there's a criminal background check. Does anyone know if drug tests are involved too?
Sorry man, I thought you were asking about Stony Brook. I got accepted into stony brook and must have replyed back on the downstate forum. I am not sure if down state does drug testing.
Good AM! I found this thread on Allnurses and wanted to join to connect with others who are starting at Downstate for the Accelerated 2nd Degree nursing program. I received my accceptance back in January and looking forward to meeting all of you at Orientation.
I just finished my background check. To answer your question, for this round, I did not have to take one, I just had to input my name, ssn, and all the previous addresses where i lived. Then it took me about 2 weeks to have everything verified. When it's complete, they alert you and then you can go ahead and view your profile.

Congratulations!! I'm still awaiting a decision. Do you mean from the time you entered faculty screener to getting the decision all took only a week?
