SUNY Downstate Summer 2016

Published

Hey all! Wanted to start a thread for others who've applied to SUNY Downstate for the accelerated program in Summer 2016. I submitted my application back in August, and am finishing 2 final prerequisites this semester, and am anxiously awaiting a decision!

My application status says, "Application Sent to Committee." Have other folks applied and/or heard back yet? Would love to know if people are starting to get admissions answers, or have a sense of when that might happen.

Good luck everyone!

Hi BKDRA! I'm still waiting to hear back from the admissions committee and am curious about your situation. Two weeks notice seems like it would be difficult for anyone to accept, family emergency or not, especially if someone is working.

Did you have the option to defer your acceptance until the following year?

I noticed on SUNY's website that they have a year deferment policy, but it's not clear whether it can be implemented for the accelerated program.

Hi futurenurse145 - unfortunately there was no option to defer for the following year. I asked about that too.

Good luck to to you this year! Feel free to ask any other questions you might have.

Congartulations Piniella!!!

Hey guys!!!! :yes:Congratulations to those who got accepted and patience to those who is still waiting (including myself).

Do you mind, guys, to share brief statistics of your process?

I applied November 26, 2015.

December 21, 2015 I got email saying "Your application was received and processed and is now ready to be reviewed by the Admissions Committee." with 1 outstanding pre-req (statistics).

Feb, 21, 2016 sent my final transcript and updated grid (with statistics).

March 7, 2016 checked status "Faculty Screener7". Since when? Don't know (had no idea that they update it online until read your thread (thank you very much for this).

My TEAS results: reading 83.3, math 100. GPA 3.96.

Very nervous, don't know what to think.

P.S. Very anxious to join FB group (when accepted).

Hi arlenecalegre. Thanks for the update! Are there multiple rounds of background checks? Is that something they mentioned? Just curious. Thanks and congratulations!

Hi Lana_K,

I also submitted my application on Nov. 26th. I already supplied my unofficial transcripts and my course grid. The only thing the school and I were waiting on was a recommendation letter which finally got submitted on Dec. 22nd. At some point (I don't recall the exact date) my application went to a FacultyScreener6 (I believe) and then to Committee Review. On Feb. 26th, I received the email saying I have been placed on the Alternate List (aka the waiting list).

Hope that helps. Good luck and keep us posted on your status.

Thank you.

I definitely will.

Just found out that "faculty screeners take their time to review all the documents, no time frame. As soon as they done, they notify us, and we will notify you". Like i didn't know about this. Just nervous. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Looks like I'm talking to myself, but I got an email today saying "our name has been placed on a list of alternates for the 2016 entering class". So, looks like the most important factor is the time when application was submitted and completed (no outstanding documents). Grades and tests results- nothing.

hey Lana K, I'm still following the thread, so if there's any way I can help or any questions I can answer, let me know!

Hi Piniella, thank you so much. I just submitted my alternate form. Just curious if I have to prepare my medical forms. And if possible, can you please send me books that you used, so I'll start looking to download. Thank you.
