Hi everyone,
I've started this thread so we can discuss and share our experiences applying to SUNY's ABSN program for 2021. Being that the application period just opened, I’m sure we can all benefit from sharing information in regards to the process.
Best of luck to those applying!
I have no evidence to support this, but I would imagine that what happened is that they accepted their 90 applicants, and that when they say we could hear by the end of August, that means they will fill in the gaps with the people who don't accept their slots for whatever reason. It is not in their best interest to delay having the slots filled. I only applied to Downstate, but it is reasonable to assume that many people applied to more than one school, and the longer they wait, the greater the possibility that people are making acceptances to other schools. They also don't want to be left with the leftovers who still haven't been accepted at the tail end.
For lizz87 who suggested they must be overwhelmed going over applications, this cannot be the case because they made acceptances before reviewing all the applications. This much I know is true from the information sessions. My application status never even changed - I know they haven't looked at mine, yet I know from this board that they have made many acceptances. They do not have to review all the applications to gather a strong cohort.
@MRH515 hahah right! nope, nothing for me. still stuck on "forwarded to program for review" since April 1st ish. I'd just love to know their answer, and like you said if they weren't going to review our apps I wish I could get the fee back! haha. didn't expect to get in honestly, but they used to be my first choice, and at least knowing they read the essays we put so much into would be cool. that application process alone definitely wasn't a small feat..

Same here! At this point, I already assumed that they're not going to look at it. I even removed the status page bookmark because why bother.
Nope, haven't heard anything since April 1st. I actually decided to email them asking for an update on my app status if possible, even if that update is bad news like, "we've filled the spots for this year" but didn't hear back. I know we've heard stories of "I got in 2 days before school started" which makes me wonder if they will still be contacting people for interviews, since those old threads showed that they were accepting people randomly til the very end. but who knows, I realize it's inherently a difficult process and don't feel entitled to a spot, but it would be nice to know if it's a done deal or if we still have chances. I do plan on attending another program I got into, but this one is just so affordable that I still have those lingering "what if" thoughts, and was hoping to at least know for sure that I was rejected and get my financial aid squared away.
I emailed them on May 17th asking if they can provide any information about the admission process, like how many seats have been filled already and if they are still interviewing people. Their answer was very quick but not very informative. They basically told me that the process is ongoing but they don’t have any information about the timeline. That’s it ☹️No updates since then. At the same time I see that two people joined the facebook group since that time, so they are probably doing interviews just not that many.
