Hi everyone,

I've started this thread so we can discuss and share our experiences applying to SUNY's ABSN program for 2021. Being that the application period just opened, I’m sure we can all benefit from sharing information in regards to the process.

In a similar boat! Hard to make work/life plans when we don't know if we've been accepted or rejected! I've heard nothing yet and my application was submitted in November.

@MamaBear9 - so frustrating! I wish that we at least knew that if we didn't hear back by a certain date, then we're rejected or it's a no-go. It's really hard to stomach potentially paying for prerequisites that are unique to only one school and not required by others, and to feel like we're investing time and energy completing courses that may not end up being necessary. Hang in there!

Haha, same boat here. I see a late-May deadline on my checklist for my remaining classes (chem and dev. psych) but I don't know if that is a hard deadline or if it's suggested...? Like from what I heard, you just had to complete these classes by registration. SO I don't wanna rush the last 2 classes for SUNY specifically when I'm ultimately gonna get rejected there, then I end up with a B when I could have taken my time and gotten an A. I just wish we knew more about the specifics but I know it comes with the territory here. I'm sincerely hoping they aren't done sending acceptances out. The FB group seems to have only half a cohort worth of members so... maybe that's positive? Who knows. Good luck with this tough waiting period everyone! Still rooting for us.

Exactly! It assumes a lot of privilege. All the ABSN schools should agree on the sam pre-reqs/requirements. There's a nursing shortage! We need to get nurses into schools and out into the world... ?

absolutely! It's like being suck in some weird limbo where you can't make any plans for the future. I wish they would b more communicative

My status changed to Screening complete on April 11th and I’ve got nothing, no calls, no emails since that day! Probably this means that my application isn’t good enough. I would understand a week or two delay, but not a month, right?

I don't think that means that you were denied, but I'm also really optimistic. I think if your application status has changed then there's a little more movement on whats going on with you! My application is still being reviewed LOL, and I've checked the checklist and the website so many times since? don't lose hope just yet!

Does anyone know the date for the first day of classes? I haven't heard back, but also wondering how to plan my Summer, should they ever call me..

Orientation is August 30 and first day of classes is August 31
