Hi everyone,
I wanted to take this chance to reach out to anyone that has applied for SUNY Downstate’s FNP program starting the fall of 2019. I know they have started with the interview process and it may have finished as of now. I wanted to know if anyone has received any feedback since their interview. Thanks.
Hi all,
I am wondering if you guys have any new grad RNs in your program? Is it common? Or do most students come in with a lot of experiences? If there are new grad RNs, how are you guys managing work and school?
I am expected to graduate this Fall from an accelerated BSN program & I am really interested in learning more about SUNY Downstate’s FNP program. All advice is welcomed!
I was a new grad. Like you I graduated from an accelerated 15 month program. I think I may be the only one in my program. Being a new grad is not hindering me with work or school. The fresh knowledge from nursing school and my undergrad bio degree is helping me get an edge on the other students in advanced pharm. I am able to do both full time no issues. Grades are great and going great at work too.

Wow thanks so much for getting back and CONGRATS!
If you dont mind me asking, what were your stats? What made you stand out enough for an interview in a competitive program? Did you apply before graduation? Also how many students are in your class. Lastly, there is a requirement of having a supervisor write a LOR, as I dont have a nursing supervisor yet & deadline is April, do you think a clinical instructor or a precious employer would suffice?
I called the admissions today and they were really emphasizing getting experience ( which I understand) but also said that it was “preferred” and not required. It did not really give me the push that I needed, hence all the questions! Thanks in advance!

Hi Taisha,
Do you mind sharing why you are not happy with the WHNP or FNP program? If you want, you may send me a private message.
-Curious from a potentially interested applicant who is considering multiple programs and am nervous about investing all my savings into this program. Thanks so much in advance!!
