SUNY Downstate FNP 2019

Hi everyone,

I wanted to take this chance to reach out to anyone that has applied for SUNY Downstate’s FNP program starting the fall of 2019. I know they have started with the interview process and it may have finished as of now. I wanted to know if anyone has received any feedback since their interview. Thanks.

I got accepted today!

I got an email yesterday that my application decision is available online. I was shocked, because I applied late and was told during the interview there were only 20 something seats left. During my interview day, there was 3 groups of 7 applicants being interviewed. I thought my chances became slimmer at that point, because I was aware of more people getting interviewed later that week. Thank God! My head is spinning from everything I have to wrap up in my life before the program starts end of August. Good luck to you!

congratulations on being accepted! That must’ve been such a huge sigh of relief. I’m still waiting for feedback from them. Now what you say that the decision was posted online, that has me curious as to where exactly? Do you simply go back to the “apply now” button on Downstate’s FNP program? All I get from there is a message saying that my application was forwarded to the admissions committee for review. I hope I get an email soon!

Yes, so when you go back instead of saying your application was forwarded to the admissions committee for review, it will say that it was sent back to admissions. At that point, there will be a link that will take you to another page. I kept checking every day, so I knew I was accepted before they emailed me and even before I received the acceptance letter in the mail.

Hi guys! I just had an interview today. I was super nervous and stumbled when asked some of the questions. I poured my heart and sole into both of my essays but I’m just scared I wasn’t able to truly paint a picture of myself during the group interview. Any advice or words of wisdom?

Were you interviewed for the FNP or WHNP? They are fully aware that people get nervous during interviews. They will look at you as a whole and not just from your interview. Try to relax and think positive. It’s crazy how I encourage people to remain optimistic, but totally felt like I wasn’t getting in for many reasons. I was wrong for doubting myself.

The WHNP program. And thank you for your words. You are right. I shouldn’t start doubting myself just because I was nervous during the interview. Did you get accepted?

Yes, I was accepted. I had applied very late and submitted right before the deadline. When I interviewed, I was told there were only 20 something seats left and I knew 21 people including me were being interviewed as well as more later that week. I started doubting my chances, but made it despite all of that. Keep the faith going.
