SUNY Downstate ABSN 2019-2020

I wanted to start a thread about the upcoming application process for SUNY Downstate ABSN. There is a fantastic thread for the previous round of applications last year, and I thought this would be a good forum for us to share any information that we might have about Downstate's admission process as we go through it together. Hi! I am currently in the program, and our projected end date is 8/31/2019. We started the day after memorial day in 2018.

Admissions is very understanding, I went to a CUNY and grades took awhile to be entered in. During orientation day, you sign a form stating that you will submit your grades as soon as you receive them (grace period was ~1 month).

Thanks for your response! This is definitely reassuring. My class will still be in session until June 11, but I guess that wouldn’t matter as long as it doesn’t interfere with the nursing program schedule and the final grade is in before the deadline. That would be awesome- now fingers crossed that I’m accepted haha ???

Greetings all!

I applied to this cycle a day before the deadline( Nov. 29) and I had a few pre-reqs outstanding. I completed them over the winter,and I am now completing the final sociology course now. I haven’t heard anything from Downstate other than, “my application has been forwarded to the committee” I’ve tried calling to inquire to no avail. Has anyone gotten any updates?

@amm95 @nek17 I just noticed the academic calendar is now up. Orientation is on May 28th and class starts May 29th.

Does this mean the program is 12 months? I thought it was 15 :0 if so, im excited!

The program is 15 months, you begin end of May 2019 and don't finish until end of August 2020.
