SUNY Downstate ABSN 2019-2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I wanted to start a thread about the upcoming application process for SUNY Downstate ABSN. There is a fantastic thread for the previous round of applications last year, and I thought this would be a good forum for us to share any information that we might have about Downstate's admission process as we go through it together. Good luck everyone!!!

For those who have had an interview, how do you think you did? It's hard for me to tell because the interviewers were so nice and engaging with every single person when I had my interview.

@berkenkot, you were right. Admissions said all grades must be in my May 28. This is gonna be a problem for me. Hoping I can figure something out (if I am accepted).

And thanks @E.R Silverlake!

I was put on the alternate list. Anyone else on the same boat?

I was as well. I interviewed last Thursday in the 1pm group. I thought it went well for everyone but I guess we don't know exactly what they were looking for.

Hey guys! I got accepted to the program today but was also accepted to the MDE program at Columbia so I will be attending the latter since it was my top choice. So one of you on the alternative list might get my spot when I decline the offer so there is hope! Wishing you all the best! It only took a week from interview date to get the decision so they are pretty quick.

Best of luck! Columbia is a phenomenal program from what I've heard. Also, for those who are worrisome since many are saying they received their decision within the next few days, don't worry. I had my interview a couple weeks ago so not everyone gets their decision right away.

Thank you so much! It's gonna cost an arm and a leg but I've decided that it is worth it (and only 15 min from where I live now). Good luck to you and hope you get some good news!

Hi everyone!

Is there a facebook group made for the ABSN 19-20 class?

Wishing all of you luck in your future!

Hey everyone! I interviewed earlier this month and was accepted today, but am undecided because I'm waiting to hear back from a few other schools. Could someone tell me if the background check and health forms have to be completed within 2 weeks of your acceptance offer, or 2 weeks after you accept?

I just received my acceptance! I interviewed Thursday 1/24 at 1pm. I'm soooooo happy as this was my first choice school. Good luck to all still preparing for interviews or waiting for a decision!

@nursingla From their website and email, it says you have 2 weeks to accept. Then 2 weeks from the time you accepted to submit the health forms and background check. At least, that's how it reads to me.

@studentRN218 thank you!
