Summer 2018- UT Health Science center pacesetter BSN program

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am preparing myself to apply for Summer 2018 pacesetter BSN program. We can use this forum for Summer 2018 applicants. I am in the process of taking Hesi exam. I have completed all my prerequisite courses needed for the program.

Little bit about me:

BS in Microbiology in 2005 -GPA (3.05)

MPH degree in Epidemiology in 2012-GPA (3.85)

Associate degree of Science in 2017-GPA (4.0)

Hesi test-will be taking it in August

Working full time with City Health department as an epidemiologist specialist since last five years. I am also a mom of two boys.

Got accepted to MUSC college of nursing program but declined it. Also got accepted to Johns Hopkins Entry into Masters of nursing program for Fall 2017 but had to deffer it to Fall 2018 due to financial circumstances.

Trying to apply for the in-state school due to affordable tuition as well as easy commute.

I really hope i can get into UT Health Science center pacesetter program as it's my first option as it's closest to me as well as it's affordable and one of the best programs in Texas.

Hey guys, I am a current UTH student so I wanted to give some insight. While I know this is probably the most anxious you've ever been (trust me I totally get it), keep in mind that there are usually over 1200 applicants. It is going to take a little while to get back to everyone, just be patient and remember that everything happens for a reason and there are many people who apply more than once and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

On another note, if yall have any questions feel free to ask. Always happy to help!

Thank you. Any idea on how many wait listed people actually get called off? Any with you now? I know it's totally random, but thought I would ask, lol.

I go to Sam Houston currently and applied for their nursing program for Spring 18 but was waitlisted and they do have a points system for deciding who gets in. Good GPA's or TEAS scores gets you points, or if you go to the school you get more points, etc etc. They are moving to the woodlands and I believe they are now accepting 120 students per application period. Its a great school but I've heard its disorganized.

You were waitlisted for Sam? Do you mind sharing your stats?

I replied to this last night but I guess it didn't post. Those who get chosen off the waitlist is solely based on the amount of people who decline their spot out of those who have already been accepted. I have no clue how many were waitlisted and made it through but there were some. Total they typically accept 120/130 out of the 1200 who apply so it's very competitive

At the time I applied my stats were:

GPA: 3.59

Science: 3.8

Nursing: 3.65

TEAS: 75

They only accepted 65 students then and I was 10th on the waitlist. I believe that my TEAS is what kept me out bc it's pretty low, I didn't have time to retake it. But now they accept more people so if you have around the same stats then I bet you will get in first try. I got into UTH for the summer with the same stats so it worked out for the better

Thank you for sharing! Your stats are really good. The TEAS is so much harder than the HESI, from what I understand! Not to mention that 65 students is so little!

does anyone know if you applied for summer 2018 and reapplying for the fall 2018 do you have to resend your transcripts? What if you just retook the Hesi and have new scores, should I send another transcript ?

Thanks! And yes the TEAS was SO much harder and more detailed, it threw me off. Sam is a smaller university so I guess they only had enough staff for 65 students, but glad they are moving to the woodlands to accept more.

Do yall know if the school takes spring break off?

Good morning!

Can anyone please advise and help me. I am starting to panic. I am trying to send my HESI scores to UT Health Science. I understand that they come from Elseiver, but how did y'all choose to actually send them? Mail, email, or fax? I tried calling the college, but no one answered. I feel as though I may have just wasted a lot of money since I can not get an answer and the deadline is so soon. Can anyone advise? Please and thank you in advance!

I would bet they are out because it is spring break. I don't know that for fact, just an assumption. As far as sending them I did it electronically from Elseiver.

Hi all! I am new to this thread but I too have applied for summer 18 and I got waitlisted. I previously applied for spring 18 but got rejected. Is there anybody else who was waitlisted? Just wondering what my chances are of getting in.
