Summer schedule help

Published

Hi everyone I'm new to this hoping I get a little help. My dilemma is for spring I have to take pre-tech classes rdg and math. I have been out of school for 7+ yrs and finally am getting my high school diploma in June at 25. I'm planning to take Eng composition and general chemistry and possibly human development online if available... Does this sound like to much for the summer? By the way i work ft and am a ft mommy to 2 kids

Yes that is too much for summer if you have two kids and work full time.

what would you suggest would be the best way around it

Too much! I would choose one. English is difficult for many people. Chemistry will be difficult, period. I don't know about human development; I take it in the spring.

I'm not sure about your school, but at ours, you can't take Human Growth & Development until you've completed the pre-requisite of Intro to Psychology first. I would highly suggest you meet with an advisor at your school and map out a realistic plan. Working full time and having 2 small children at home doesn't leave you much time for school. I wouldn't take more than 2 classes at once. Chem & English in the same semester is a heavy load. If you're just going back to school, you should ease into it and get a better idea of what you can handle. Would you rather take a bunch of classes and barely get a 2.0? Or would you rather take 1 or 2 classes and get an A? Only you can possibly know what you're capable of handling at one time.

I just finished taking 6 classes (17 credit hours) last semester. I did not work and my son is a teenager, who is mostly hanging out with his friends and only comes home to eat...LOL :) Even then...I was stressed to the max with the tremendous workload. I managed to keep my 4.0 GPA, but I tell you...I would never voluntarily sign up for such a heavy course load ever again. So, think about what you can realistically accomplish.

Good luck to you :D

thanks you guys yes i agree i have to get with my counselor was just trying to plan in my head lol..I agree english was my worst subject in school but now it isn't to bad as i thought.

I'm also a full time mommy and I just finished Psych and Hum Growth online, they were both easy A's. I would never recommend taking any of your science classes online, as for English, their is always a lot of writing involved. You want to find out what your professors likes and dislikes are; unless you're strong in writing.

I would never recommend taking a science online... Especially in your situation.. Online courses take a lot of discipline, and that may be very hard working with two children. I am a mother of 3 and married, starting RN program in January, but took a year and half straight thru including summer taking prerequisites. If you have some support at home, and time to write papers and read you can possibly tackle English and human development in summer. I took lifespan psych online while taking college algebra &trig in 4 weeks in summer session. I received A in the math, and a B+ in lifespan But I had A LOT of support from my husband.

Good luck. And congratulations on taking steps towards your new journey!
