Summer Entry 2012 Accelerated BSN Johns Hopkins

Published

Okay I have searched far and wide to find a topic relating to this but have only found older ones... I mean come on guys the world isn't really going to end December 2012. :yeah: So here's to the 2012 application cycle!

I have a ton of questions for those who are applying and those who have applied and those who are in the program. Any and all input will be much appreciated. Also just so you know, I will be attending the October 1st open house.

If I were to describe myself, I would say grade-wise I am not the strongest candidate for JHU's nursing program as it is considered top in the nation. HOWEVER I have great experience and recommendations to cancel that out. I am also trying really really hard to make those essays seem great but only 300 words?

So to anyone reading this post, what do you think I can do to make myself a stronger applicant?

Relating to specifically JHU, I have heard a million different things about their program. From "it really sucks and is not worth it" to "best program EVER". JHU is supposed to be a school that is the leader in research and also has a global perspective. Can anyone else tell me what is so special about JHU's nursing program? What is your personal experience with it?

As far as location and campus, I think it doesn't matter as long as the educational program is incredible.

p.s. You are awesome for reading my novel. There have been many a times where I skipped over long posts. :coollook:

Oh my gosh, I know I saw some people discussing shopping therapy. I felt bad because Sephora just sent me an email welcoming me as a VIB *gulp*. Plenty of shopping therapy going on.

ALXiong - I just went and looked! It looks like they changed it from January 15th to "Now accepting applications". I kind of feel like I'm late now! I might have to email them to ask.

Is anyone planning on going to the January 7th open house? I'm guessing most of you EDs have gone to one or similar?

Oh and I'm currently in IT for a large corporation. Basically I sit in a cubicle all day long providing support to people and advising them on IT related subjects. I like the people, I like when the work is challenging but I need to be done with office work plus I want to work to make a difference in the lives of people.

I get that. Mine was more 'I'm helping people but I want to be hands on'.

Go to the open house. I went to one in October(?) and it was really good. I liked meeting the students and getting a feel for the college.

I think you should be okay for the January 15 deadline because you are applying Fall Entry right? I'm pretty sure that's the deadline for you.

I think I've had like 20 cookies so far. I don't even know why I'm so anxious! I think waiting just drives me insane. I mean I really would be happy to get in but not super crushed if I didn't.

I was just 'googling' Johns Hopkins and laughed so hard at what I found on urbandictionary.com

'Johns Hopkins is like unprotected sex. You're happy you got in but sad when you came.' :dncgbby:

My recital is actually on Christmas Eve. I'm in the process of REALLY preparing for it since I am done with school for now.

Sephora! Wow...I need to start wearing make up. My mom jokes that I wore more make up when I was a preteen in junior high than I do now. -_- Any basic make up tips? Can you recommend a good tinted moisturizer for just average skin? Hehe...

Just to relieve some nerves, watch this cute and funny video clip if you haven't yet:

The Halloween candy one is hilarious too!

I'm praying all of us will receive a GREAT early Christmas present from Hopkins very soon!

I loved that video haha

Girrrrrrllllllll don't get me STARTED on makeup lol!

But seriously Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is the best I would say (also expensive-$42!). There is Clinique, it's called Almost Makeup and Sephora brand has a nice tinted moisturizer too. I just like the way Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer feels.

I asked my friend what I should do for my anxiety and he said to do 10 pushups and every time I come up I should say 'I am awesome.' I think I'm getting made fun of here...

I think all the Bachelor programs are the same status "Accepting applications"

I have a feeling like they want to recruit more students, but such high reputation school like JH should not be having a problem to recruit highly qualified students though. Just my thought! I dont think it is too lat to submit your application for fall. A lot of programs (not so famous schools) accept applications in Jan 2012 and deadline is like March for Fall entry term.

Wow, I wasn't even expecting people to hear anything back until the 15th! I'm super nervous. I just got back from a weekend in NY and Philly (interviewed at UPenn!), but I have a root canal and a make-up Microbio final to take tomorrow, and then A&P final the day after. I can't WAIT for this semester to be over with, and it would be really nice to cap it off with some POSITIVE news. Good luck everyone!!!

Anyone else heard back? GOING CRAZZYYYYYY!

I did!!! AHH!!!! I'm in for BSN/MSN FNP!!!! Good luck everyone!!!

Congratulations! :yeah:When did they call you?

good for you! Congratulations! I am still waiting, finger cross.

The guy who interviewed me called me at about 10:45am PST. Now, just two finals to go!
