I just finished taking the TEAS. I haven't gotten my test results back yet but, I do not feel confident about the science portion. Does anyone have any advice on how to improve in this area? Any online places to look at? I do have the ATI guide. I don't feel like the Science is anything you can really study for, but I thought maybe someone else might have a suggestion. I have been out of school 20+ years, so the science is all ancient history for me. Now, if it were A&P only, I think I'd do great. But there was only 1 question in that area!
Also, how long did it take to get your results? Mine said they were blocked until my institution looked at them. GRR....
TIA
each section is timed separately.yes, i used the manual to study. i just didn't find it helpful for the science portion. the maunal was very helpful in all the other areas though.
i'm in logansport btw :) no it didn't show any scores just said it was blocked. the proctor said i would get my results in a couple of weeks.
completely agree! the science portion was my lowest score on the teas, yet i have taken many college science courses.
seems to me the science was from 8th to 10th grade material that i have easily forgotten over the years. if you can review the very basics of the sciences including earth science (geology, eco systems, etc.) it would be helpful.
the teas test-test of essential academic skills, measures your basic essential skills in reading, math, science, and english and language usage (stuff you were taught in high school, but since totally forgot!). the test has 170 questions total, it's multiple choice and each section is timed. i go to ivy tech and we must score a certain percentage in each section to "pass" the test. once you have passed, your score is ranked with all the other applicants and the top few scores are chosen for the program (this year at my campus it's 50 for the lpn program). i believe they also include your gpa in your composite score. this is your gpa for your co-reqs-eng.111, psych, a&p i, and a&p ii. if visit the ati website below it explains the teas test in more detail. :typing
I agree with those of you who did not find the science section of the ATI study guide helpful. It has been about 7 years since I've had a chem class, so I went to the library and checked out several Chemistry SAT II test prep books and spent a few hours looking through them.
I took the TEAS at the end of January, and although my test didn't have very many chemistry questions (only 2 that I recall), I felt more confident going into the exam. My advice is to go to your library and check out SAT II subject guides for physics, chemistry, biology, or whatever science topic you feel needs some review because they give more helpful summaries than the ATI guide. But remember, you'll probably find the actual test much easier than you anticipated, so don't freak out too much about the science section.
I took my TEAS this morning and I was able to get my score right after too.
I felt that the 35.00 guide was a waste of my precious money honestly! I had a friend of mine e-mail me this other document that actually gives you the secrets of the TEAS and it was WAY more helpful! My medical dosage book was also particularly helpful with the math sections. The science part it all-over the place with abstract questions that are more specific to physics, earth science, chemistry and biology. There is not much on human science which I was disappointed on.
I would have to say that I disliked the new format on the computer and not having the breaks between the sections. I would also have to say you better be able to do math in your head quickly or the math section will eat you alive!
Good Luck and I hope you do well!
Hi medical Nerd,
I'm interested in the email your friend sent you. could you possibly send it to me or tell me where she got it?
Well... I found out why it took so long to get my results. The day of the test the person that normally proctors the test did not show up. Evidentally there was a mix up in the schedule. Anyhow..we ended up having someone else give us the test. They were not aware they were to print out our results at the end of the test. So... I was able
to get my results later the next week. I was not too thrilled although I passed. I scored the lowest in science as I predicted I would. My composite score was 81.
Now I'm wondering what is the most anyone has ever raised their score when they did a retake.
I talked to a girl in my ANP class she said she took it the 3 times we are allowed to. Her first score was the best.
I'm scheduled for my restest March 18!
Now, I'm trying to figure out how I can best raise my score.
Hi wish,
I know exactly what it is... http://www.mo-media.com/teas/ this study guide is way better then the ATI's. Goes over alot of the science that ati is missing and also has a better math and english section. Its easy also yes to send threw a email because its just a 100 page or so pamplet not a book. It was also cheaper too. I got this just because of the money back guarateee they will give you your money back if you dont like your score or book whatever. It so easy to copy at kinkos and give to someone. I like it but wish it was a book if she dosent want to give it to you ill scan the science and stuff which you said you didnt score high on and give it to you.
