Goes to the 49 yo male who came in by AMBULANCE- C/C? He was cleaning his ear, and got some q-tip FLUFF stuck in his ear.At 0430 am......REALLY??? Of course a Medicade cab to go home in as well....our tax $ at work!
my husband was hospitalized yesterday. he's in isolation and stuck on bedrest with his foot and leg elevated. he's being given iv morphine q2 and is fuzzy, to say the least.his complaint when he just called me? gravity makes using a urinal in that particular position impossible!
two very nice nurses cleaned up without laughing or even cracking smiles, he reported.
mean ol' mr. gravity!

elevated leg in isolation and on strong pain meds and he doesn't have a foley? why's that? (curious as a new student)
i'm not sure why. i think the very thought of a foley might have made him walk home on his hospital gown!! i wondered that same thing.
How big of a risk of infection is there in a non-immuno-comprimised adult in isolation? I know there is always a risk, but I'dve thought that for immobilized patients who can't easily use a urinal that a foley would be almost standard.
Ok I have to ask...but shouldn't something be done to keep her husband from leaking and having to be cleaned up by nurses whenever he goes? That can't be good either (if for nothing else but his dignity).
