Studying for the NI Board Certification / CEUs

Published

Specializes in Operating Room.

Greetings,

I am studying for the ANCC board certification in Nursing Informatics. I recently obtained my MSN/ Nursing Informatics from University of Phoenix.

I bought the Study Guide.

Is there any online board study guide courses/ materials that offer CEU credits, so that I may earn CEU's while preparing specifically for the exam.

The only one I know about is

http://blue.isoph.com/ancc/catalog_NI.aspx

Which offers 8. I need a total of 30.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I am aware of nursing informatics CEU's, but the ones I am interested in are ones that will prepare me for the board certification.

Thanks,

Specializes in Operating Room.

I would also like to add that I would prefer the content to be online, because I am an Army Nurse Corps Officer Stationed overseas and can't attend the conus workshops.

Hello Chris, congrats on obtaining your MSN! Unable to answer your questions but wanted to wish you well with your preparation. I intend to take the NI certification exam in the Fall.

Greetings Christopher,

Take a look at the top of this forum, one of the Sticky Threads permanently posted on the forum and titled "NI CEUs"

In this permanent post I have listed several sources for NI CEUs - In addition to the one I added today.

You should also be able to apply your actual academic credits (from your MSN U of Phoenix degree) towards what you need to qualify to sit for the NI certification exam.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the links I am going to call the ANCC to figure out how I can apply my MSN classes to the CEU portion.

Also thanks for the Pearls link. 8 CEU's for 69.00 is a good deal. i can't wait to get the RN-BC in informatics! It seems like such a long journey!

Come on now cheer up!!! When you look back after you have passed the cert exam you will see that it took you longer and was more of a "journey" to complete your MSN! :)

Good Luck and let me know if you need anythinng else

I meant a long journey from where I set my goals at.I was a BSN who wanted the MSN-NI and Board Certification in Informatics. Now that I finally got my MSN knocked out, the final leg is the certification. Very excted about this new career path by the way...

I just called the ANCC and they said that for each credit hour of an informatics course they will award me 15 contact hours. Since I just finished the informatics degree, I have like 4 times the amount of contact hours.. so basically I don't need to submit any CEUs.

I am still going to take the review course

Just tor brush up and ensure that I am successful in passing the board certification.

Christopher,

Thank you for your service. I have a son who is an officer in the USMC (combat pilot). I am sitting for the ANCC informatics boards in May 2012. Do you have any advice regarding SDLC references?
