    DNP Project site needed ASAP

Thank you. I don't need a specific geographical location. It all can be done remotely. I need either two ambulatory clinic offices or two hospice offices or two home health offices. Are you in a Doctoral program?

    DNP Project site needed ASAP

I am a Doctoral Student (DNP - concentration Informatics Leadership) at American Sentinel University. I am in dire need of a site to conduct my DNP Project. I need a multi-office ambulatory clinic, home health or hospice organization that has at least two offices. Each office must have at least 50 clinicians (any combination of RN, LPN/LVN, SN, HHA, CNA, MA, PT, OT, MSW, etc) who use the electronic documentation system. The ambulatory clinics, HH or hospice organization can be located anywhere in the US as the project can be accomplished virtually. I need to conduct my quality improvement project during late November or December of this year - 2019. I can provide additional details and answer any question anyone may have as I have passed my deadline with ASU and am currently in a holding pattern and unable to proceed with the program. Please feel free to pass my request on to anyone you think would be able to provide me with a project site or facilitate same. Thank you Angela Lewis, MBA-IT, RN-BC, FHIMSS 847-530-11253

    What do CI nurses do?

Good question Akeos, It all depends on the informatics nurse's specific role. Please utilize this Forum for the wonderful resource it is and read a few of the many posts from practicing informatics professionals. Also if you scroll down to the bottom of the forum. The string entitled: A Day in the Life will give you several different "days in the life" of practicing informatics nurses. Good Luck!

    What do CI nurses do?

Ewwww what a wonderful question! Clinical Informatics nurses are responsible for insuring clinical input is sought and reflected in decision-making processes related to planning, selection, design, use, evaluation of clinical information systems technologies as applied to patient care and clinical practice. Sorry about the long sentence. Or we could just use the ANA/ANCC definition of Nursing Informatics which reads: Nursing Informatics is a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge and wisdom in nursing practice.

angelollaguna, This is the exact same question posted by muzzy on March 16th. Please see above for my reply then. Not sure why you posted the same question under a different user name. If this is not the case and this occurance is as a result of a site malfunction, please let me know so I can follow up with a Senior Admin.
  8. Greetings Yeng_27, I would not suggest getting an associate degree in anything if you already have a bachelors degree. I would suggest #1 continuing with your clinical nursing practice as you need that foundational knowledge and experience before you move into ANY spcialty. #2 Before you spend additional money and time in another degree why dont you first learn about the speciality of nursing and clinical informatics and see what exactly it within this speciality you think you want to do. #3 Volunteer at your hospital to be a super user or with some clincial IT project or initiative going on. #4 Join a nursing informatics networking and educational grouup such as AMIA-NIWG, ANIA or HIMSS NI Task force as another way to both learn about the specialty and network with those who are actually practicing within. Please read the numerous posts under numerous subjects on this forum related to nursing, medical and clinical informatics and utilize this forum as one of the most valuable resources for learning about this speciality from the actual clinical informaticists who currently practice within. Good Luck!

Greetings RockinChick, Being a super user is a good start. What is it in informatics you want to do? You don't have to know how to code or be a programmer to get into this specialty. How Do I Get Started in Nursing Informatics? on ADVANCE for Nurses

Nursing Informatics Masters - should I take the plunge?

Welcome Carl, I'll let others chime in with more detail but my oppinion has always been that unless you are already in an informatics or IT/IS role spending money and time on an advance degree is not beneficial. Many think that obtaining an advance degree in informatics will automatically guarantee them a position. http://nursing.advanceweb.com/Columns/Nursing-Informatics/How-Do-I-Get-Started-in-Nursing-Informatics.aspx What do you do related to your "per diem work with Sorian"? and What skills (other than and above the user level) will the Epic training" provide you? Depending on the above and in your case it might definately increase your marketability. I do whole heartedly endorse degree attainment via on-line distance education. Good Luck! Angela .

  13. As Japan strains to care for elderly, sacrifices begin By Chico Harlan, Saturday, April 28, 9:01 AM The Washington Post NISHINOMIYA, Japan- The ominous demographics of this aging nation have long been seen by Japanese as a distant concern, not a present-day one. But that mind-set is being called into question by a prime minister who says that a crisis requiring immediate sacrifices has already begun.
  14. Effect of Clinical Decision-Support Systems Abstract Background: Despite increasing emphasis on the role of clinical decision-support systems (CDSSs) for improving care and reducing costs, evidence to support widespread use is lacking. Purpose: To evaluate the effect of CDSSs on clinical outcomes, health care processes, workload and efficiency, patient satisfaction, cost, and provider use and implementation.

    strategies to get into NI

Greetings nathanfl, I'm thinking that there may be a few reason why you are having difficulty. 1) HR and hiring managers look at past length of stay related to the jobs you have had - only staying in a position for less than a year, let alone only 6weeks would be a red flag for me. 2) You wrote that you had 3.5 years of experience as a practicing RN. In what specialty? Perhaps the folks you are interviewing with want someone with another specialty or more years of practice experience? 3) Perhaps they want someone with more clinical systems experience, more project management experience, experience with a particular vendor system? I don't know as I'm not the one who was interviewed. A thought - have you asked the folks you interviewed with, that as you wrote you were "not able to seal the deal" with for feed back as to why they did not select you? Please feel free to use previously posted advice on this forum. There are several experienced informaticists who frequent and contribute to this forum.
