I was having this discussion with a friend, but we later agree to to these. Hope this will benefit all nurses student still in school or awaiting to take NCLEX. Is more or less like a study :rckn:group. If you think you have any question you can thread and pple will respond with answer. 1-pyloric stenosis who is a newborn
2-Esophageal atresia who is newborn
3-PKU who is a day old.
1st - Airway- Esophageal Atresia is a medical emergency
2nd- Pyloric stenosis-is important but the other is more ER
3rd- PKU patient one day old...
I am really trying to think what is something that NCLEX would ask......Ok I know...What name the 12 cranial nerves and what you would be assessing with each....Its been a while since I have done this, so it should be a good refresher....
12 CRANIAL NERVES
OLFACTORY: smell
OPTICS: eye
OCULOMOTOR: PERLA
TROCLEAR: eye movement
TRIGEMINAL: jaw, cheek
ABDUCEN: eye movement
FACIAL : ask pt to raise eyebrow, wrinkle the forehead and open mouth.(bell palsy)
ACOUSTIC: sound
GLOSSOPHARYNGEAL: gag reflex
VAGUS: control swallowing, decrease heart rate.
SPINAL ACCESSORY : assess shoulder muscle by shruging
HYPOGLOSSAL: ask pt to stick out tongue

Obtunded- less aware, kind of out of it
Coma- nonresponsive to stimuli
lethargic- tired or fatigued
Stuporous-dazed
Not sure of the exact answers you were wanting for that but thats what I remember!!!!
