what is the first thing you should do after membranes rupture? check fetal heart rate. yes, checking the fluid characteristics are important, but the fetal heart rate is the priority. after membranes rupture, there's an increased risk of cord prolapse.
following a mastectomy, how should you position the pt's arm? slightly elevated. this helps to prevent edema r/t removal of lymph nodes.
