So there is a story going around our school about a girl who failed clinical and lab in the same semester. In our program you are allowed on one fail so this meant she was out of the program. She was surprised in her evaluation when she failed and threw a chair at the instructor in the hospital and had to be escorted off the property by hospital security.
Do you guys know of anyone else who freaked out when they were cut from the program?

Nope, not yet. I think most people are initially just stunned.
It's interesting to find out how other people react.

I don't know of anyone that failed out and done anything like that. I failed out, but I waited until I got home to freak out! I really believe there needs to be a discussion board on here just for failed nursing students. Its a very emotional and confusing time, and these people need support. I didn't fail clinical, but I failed two of my classes by the skin of my teeth. However, I can re-enter my program after one year. I guess some just show their frustrations in different ways, such as the student that threw a chair at their instructor.

Its not just nursing school anymore. You should see how people are in the pre-reqs because of how competitive it is to get into the program. Failing is not getting an A now. Belive me there were a lot of tears shed, me included over Microbiolgoy last semester. Many people who were very angry with our Prof.

I can understand crying and being upset but throwing a chair at a Professor? That's just a little unstable. I don't think I'd want this person as my nurse. People need to be able to control themselves a little bit more than that!!!

I've worked so hard to get accepted and if I were to fail out I would have a melt down . However, I wouldn't take it out on anyone b/c it wouldn't be their fault I failed.
The student who failed out could have possibly gotten into another school if she hadn't thrown a chair at the instructor. Now I don't think she stands a chance :nuke:

In 5th grade two boys in my class threw chairs at the teacher and fellow students (separate occasions).

She just blew her chances of getting back in. Her school won't take her back now. And yes, I would be uncomfortable with someone who has anger management issues.
