Student hoping to excel!

Published

I have one more month until I go into my 2nd (out of 6) semester of nursing school. I love learning about health and nursing. I want to utilize this time to study up on crucial nursing skills. Does anybody have any advice on the most important aspects I should learn about?? I'm currently working on memorizing acid/base & electrolyte imbalances (risks, manifestations, and interventions). I would greatly appreciate any suggestions!

I'm a senior (class of '08). Here's my advice to you... Review Anatomy and Physiology! You'll appreciate the extra time you'd spent on it, later! Plus, mastering anatomy will serve as a great foundation for your studies and career.

I hope that helps. Best of luck!

Specializes in ICU, Med/Surg, Tele.

I'm also a senior..and i agree study A+P..it'll help you in the long run =)

A/P and how medications affect the body....

Through focusing on these areas you will build a framework to tie the other information to as you continue through school.

I agree with the above posts. I am going into my third semester of nursing. I was able to get a hold of last year's reading assignment and I plan on reading at least the first 3 weeks. I attended one seminar on psychiatric nursing last week in Georgia. I plan to review the cranial nerves from my A&P book, since I will be doing Neurological Disorders after psychiatric nursing. Before I start class, I will do some nclex questions from my Saunders nclex review book.

My only option is to excel.....I will do whatever it takes to do well.

Studying with the Prentice Hall review books for each area (Med Surg, Psych, Women's Health, Peds, etc) and the Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX review book worked well for me.

Totally agree with knowing A&P...
