Hi guys,
I recently accepted a residency position at a hospital in DC. I am graduating from a program in Arizona and therefore need to become licensed in DC. The DC RN examination application is kind of confusing. My program does not give letters of completion, so my only option is to send my official transcripts with the application. Does anyone know of the exact steps I need to take, in order, of how to become licensed, and the time frame? I've called the DC BON twice, and no one has returned my phone calls. The residency starts February 17th, and they want us to have our NCLEX complete prior to starting, and my official transcripts wont be available till about late December when my degree is complete. Can I not do anything currently to move this application process along, am I suppose to just sit here until my transcripts post and then submit my application? Clearly I'm stressed over this time frame lol. Can anyone clarify or list the steps needed to complete this? Thank you!

Until you have graduated and transcripts completed there is nothing you can do to make it go faster except get things like fingerprints done

I'm pretty sure you can't get a date scheduled for your exam until the state you want to be licensed in issues you an authorization to test (ATT). And they won't give you that until they have approved your application, meaning you have submitted all the requirements for testing and that includes proof of successful completion of an RN program. Of course the residency program is aware of this so with any luck they believe the time between sending in your application to the board of nursing and getting the testing date and then getting results of the test send to the nursing board must be reasonably quick. Good luck to you!

I am unsure of the timeline, but the application provides a fairly detailed explanation of the steps involved.
Best wishes.
