Struggling

Published

Guys, I got my dream job and have been loving it. Lo and behold, 45 day review wasn't so hot. I'm behind where they'd like me to believe. I don't know what to do. I want this so bad.

Thibgs like in a trauma not being sure what to do as opposed to seeing what is not being done and just doing it. Efficiency is an issue. Assessment issues. Etc.

I think the short tenure is hurting me in finding a new job.

What about your previous place? Any chance to go back there?

Can you not apply on a different floor in your facility? Nothing wrong with being honest and saying you were over your head and want to go back to what you were doing before.

I was told at my 45 day review that is what would occur. I was deceived.

Appears not.

Got hired at a much smaller ED. I had the choice between that and the observation unit. I chose the ED.

Congrats. Take what you've already learned and grow from there. Ask for specific orientation goals/objectives so you have a clearly defined path.

PM if something comes up that you don't want to discuss on the forum.

Good luck.

I'm optimistic that his will be a good fit. When the interviewer asked me what about my old place, I began to answer and he finished my sentence for me. He said he's encountered others with similar experiences, i.e. they don't support new nurses and let them fail like they did with me.

Best wishes on your new position - please check in and let us know how it's going!
